Sirat Ibn Hisham 1293
What befell a group of the oppressed after the reconciliation
Translation
✧ [Poetry of Ibn al-Zibaʿrā in reply to Mawhab] ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Zibaʿrā answered him, saying: And Mawhab has become like a wretched donkey that crossed through a land where he cries out. For a slave like you does not vie with Suhayl; your effort is misguided, O you whom you oppose. So desist, O son of an evil blacksmith, from him, and turn away from such talk in the lands. And do not mention ʿItāb, the father of Yazīd; how far are the seas from the small pools.
