What befell a group of the oppressed after the reconciliation

Translation

✧ He said: Ibn Isḥāq said: When the killing of Abū Baṣīr, their ally of the ʿĀmirī, reached Suhayl b. ʿAmr, he leaned his back against the Kaʿbah, then said: By Allah, I will not move my back from the Kaʿbah until this man pays the blood-money. So Abū Sufyān b. Ḥarb said: By Allah, this is indeed folly; by Allah, he will not be paid (three times). Concerning that, Mawhab b. Riyāḥ, Abū Unays, ally of the Banū Zuhrah, recited: — Ibn Hishām said: Abū Unays was an Ashʿarī. — A word from Suhayl came to me and woke me, though I was not asleep. If it is reproach you want from me, then reproach me; you are not far from me. Do you threaten me while ʿAbd Manāf surrounds me with Makhzūm, alas for those you oppose? If you poke my spear-shaft, you will not find me weak of wood in severe tribulations. I vie in nobility of lineage with my people when the weak are trodden among them. They defended the outer lands without doubt, and the inner lands against the raiders, with every long-legged mare and every sturdy steed, lean from pursuit. At al-Khayf, Maʿadd knew of the pavilion of glory raised on pillars.
