Mention of what God revealed in the Qurʾān concerning Uḥud
Translation
✧ [What was revealed concerning the illicit taking of spoils] Then He said: It is not for a prophet to act dishonestly (yaghulla); whoever acts dishonestly will bring what he dishonestly took on the Day of Resurrection. Then every soul will be paid in full what it earned, and they will not be wronged. That is, it is not for a prophet to conceal from the people what Allah sent him with to them, out of fear of the people or desire (for their favor). Whoever does that will bring it on the Day of Resurrection, then he will be recompensed for his earning, neither wronged nor transgressed against. Is then one who follows the good pleasure of Allah, whether people love or hate (what he does), like one who has incurred wrath from Allah to please the people or to avoid their displeasure? He says: Is one who is upon obedience to Me, whose reward is the Garden and good pleasure from Allah, like one who has incurred wrath from Allah and made himself deserving of His wrath, so that his abode is Jahannam—and evil is the destination? Are the two likenesses equal? So know (the difference). They are degrees (darajāt) with Allah, and Allah is Seeing of what they do. For each there are degrees according to what they have done, in the Garden and the Fire: that is, Allah does not fail to distinguish the people of His obedience from the people of His disobedience.
