Mention of what God revealed in the Qurʾān concerning Uḥud

Translation

✧ [Allah's favor upon people by sending messengers] Then He said: Verily Allah conferred a favor upon the believers when He sent among them a messenger from themselves, reciting to them His verses and purifying them, and teaching them the Book and wisdom, though they had been before in manifest error. That is, Allah conferred a favor upon you, O people of faith, when He sent among you a messenger from yourselves, reciting to you His verses concerning what you have brought about and what you have done, so that He teaches you good and evil, that you may recognize good and act upon it, and evil and avoid it; and He informs you of His pleasure with you when you obey Him, so that you may increase in obedience to Him and avoid what He dislikes from you of disobedience to Him, that by that you may be delivered from His vengeance and attain His reward of His garden. Though you had been before in manifest error—that is, in blindness of the Age of Ignorance, not knowing a good deed and not seeking forgiveness for an evil deed, deaf to good, dumb to truth, blind to guidance.
