Mention of what God revealed in the Qurʾān concerning Uḥud

Translation

✧ [Mention that death is by Allah's permission] Then He said: And it is not for a soul to die except by Allah's permission, as a decree determined—that is, that Muhammad ﷺ has an appointed term which he will reach; and when Allah, Mighty and Majestic, grants permission for that, it occurs. And whoever desires the reward of this world, We grant him from it; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We grant him from it; and We will recompense the grateful—that is, whoever among you desires this world and has no desire for the Hereafter, We grant him from it what has been allotted to him of provision, and he will not exceed his share in it; and he has no portion in the Hereafter. And whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We grant him from it what has been promised to him, together with the provision he is requited with in his worldly life; and that is the recompense of the grateful—that is, the God-fearing.
