✧ Abu Lu'lu'ah was a slave of al-Mughirah b. Shu'bah. He used to make millstones, and al-Mughirah exploited him for four dirhams daily. Abu Lu'lu'ah met 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ and said: 'O Commander of the Faithful, al-Mughirah has made my dues heavy; speak to him to lighten it for me.' 'Umar said to him: "Fear Allah and be good to your master." The slave became angry and said: 'Your justice encompasses all people except me,' and he resolved to kill him. He fashioned a dagger with two heads and poisoned it, then brought it to al-Hurmuzan and said: 'What do you think of this?' He said: 'You will not strike anyone with this but that you will kill him.'
