✧ Abu Bakr ؓ asked permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ while I was with him under a single cloak. He gave him permission, and he fulfilled his need while he was in that state under the cloak, then left. Then 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ asked permission, and he gave him permission, and he fulfilled his need while I was in that state under the cloak, then left. Then 'Uthman b. 'Affan ؓ asked permission, and he adjusted his clothes and sat up, then fulfilled his need and left. 'A'ishah said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr asked permission, and you fulfilled his need while you were in that state; then 'Umar asked permission, and you fulfilled his need while you were in that state; then 'Uthman asked permission, and you adjusted your clothes and composed yourself.' He said: "O 'A'ishah, 'Uthman is a shy man, and if I had given him permission in that state, I feared he would not fulfill his need to me."
