أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ مِنْ كِتَابِهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجُعْفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
لَمَّا اشْتَدَّ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَجَعَهُ قَالَ «مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ» فَقَالَتْ لَهُ عَائِشَةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَجُلٌ رَقِيقٌ إِذَا قَامَ مَقَامَكَ لَمْ يُسْمِعِ النَّاسَ مِنَ الْبُكَاءِ قَالَ «مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ» فَعَاوَدَتْهُ مِثْلَ مقَالَتِهَا فَقَالَ «إِنَّكُنَّ صَوَاحِبَاتُ يُوسُفَ مُرُوا أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَلْيُصَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ»

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became seriously ill, he said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." 'A'ishah said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr is a soft-hearted man; if he stands in your place, he will not make the people hear due to weeping." He said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." She repeated the same to him, and he said, "You are indeed like the women around Yusuf. Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer."

حدث به الزهري واختلف عنه فرواه عقيل عن الزهري عن حمزة بن عبد الله بن عمر مرسلا وخالفه يونس وشعيب بن أبي حمزة وإسحاق بن يحيى رووه عن الزهري عن حمزة بن عبد الله بن عمر عن أبيه وهو الصواب
machine translationAl-Zuhrī narrated it, and there is disagreement about him. ʿUqayl narrated it from al-Zuhrī from Ḥamzah b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar as a mursal report (mursal). Yūnus, Shuʿayb b. Abī Ḥamzah and Isḥāq b. Yaḥyā contradicted him; they narrated it from al-Zuhrī from Ḥamzah b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar from his father, and this is the correct version.
