✧ Abu Jahl said, "Does Muhammad humble his face behind your backs? By the one he swears by, if I see him do that, I will step on his neck." So he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was praying, intending to step on his neck. But suddenly he was unable to move; it was as if his hands were being restrained and his heels were being pulled back. They came to him and said, "What's wrong with you, O Abu Al-Hakam?" He replied, "Between him and me is a trench of fire and terror with wings." Abu Al-Mu'tamir said, "So Allah revealed 'Have you seen the one who forbids a servant when he prays' until the end of the verse, 'So let him call his band of supporters.' His people said, 'We shall summon the executioners.' But the angels said, 'Do not obey him.' Then Allah commanded him to perform the prostration as He had commanded him in the end of the Surah." He also narrated to me in this Hadith that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If he came near me, the angels would seize him limb by limb."
