✧ When Ka'b b. al-Ashraf came to Makkah, they came to him and said, 'We are the people of the watering and the custodianship of the Ka'bah, and you are the master of the people of Yathrib. Are we better or this little contemptible one, cut off from his people, who claims that he is better than us?' He said, 'You are better than him.' Then it was revealed regarding the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off' (Qur'an 108:3), and it was revealed: 'Have you not seen those who were given a portion of the Scripture, believing in jibt and taghut and saying to those who disbelieve, "These are better guided than those who believe as to the way"?' (Qur'an 4:51).
