✧ A man sat with the Prophet ﷺ wearing a gold ring. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ tapped his hand with a stick he had, then turned away from him. The man threw away his ring. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at him and said, 'Where is your ring?' He said, 'I threw it away.' He said, 'I think we hurt you and caused you loss.'

machine translationThis is a mistake. Rather, it is as Yūnus narrated it, from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Idrīs, from a man among the Companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ, from the Prophet ﷺ.

machine translationThe reliable memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) among the students of al-Zuhrī narrated it from him, from Abū Idrīs al-Khawlānī, that a man among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ wore a ring, and this is the correct (ṣaḥīḥ) version.
