Sahih Ibn Hibban 304

✧ Please enable one to attain Allah's satisfaction in the day of judgment by speaking the truth before the imams in this life.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ

قَرَأَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ} قَالَ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَضَعُونَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ عَلَى غَيْرِ مَوْضِعِهَا أَلَا وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ النَّاسَ إِذَا رَأَوَا الظَّالِمَ فَلَمْ يَأْخُذُوا عَلَى يَدَيْهِ أَوْ قَالَ الْمُنْكَرَ فَلَمْ يُغَيِّرُوهُ عَمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ بِعِقَابِهِ»

Translation

  5. Qays b. Abū Ḥāzim

✧ Abu Bakr al-Siddiq recited this verse: {O you who believe, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves; those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided.} He said: 'People place this verse in other than its proper place. Verily I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "When people see the wrongdoer and do not seize his hands" or he said, "the wrong" and do not change it, Allah will soon overwhelm them all with His punishment."'
