✧ The people complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about drought and lack of rain. He ordered a pulpit, and it was placed for him in the prayer area, and he promised the people a day to come out. Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out when the edge of the sun appeared and sat on the pulpit. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: “You have complained of the barrenness of your gardens and the withholding of rain from its usual time. Allah has commanded you to call upon Him and promised to answer you.” Then he said: “{All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment.} There is no deity but You; You do what You will. O Allah, You are Allah, there is no deity but You. You are the Self-Sufficient, and we are the needy. Send down upon us rain, and make what You send down a strength for us and a means to good.” Then he ﷺ raised his hands until we saw the whiteness of his armpits. Then he turned his back to the people and reversed or turned his cloak while still raising his hands. Then he faced the people, descended, and prayed two rak‘ahs. Allah brought forth clouds, thunder, lightning, and rain by Allah’s permission. We did not remain long in his mosque before the streams flowed. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the wetness of clothes on the people, he laughed until his premolars showed and said: “I bear witness that Allah is capable of all things and that I am the servant of Allah and His Messenger.”
