✧ The rain was withheld for a year, so some Muslims rose to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah, the rain has been withheld, the land has become barren, and the livestock have died.” He said, “He raised his hands, and we did not see any cloud in the sky. He extended his hands until I saw the whiteness of his armpits, seeking rain from Allah. We had not yet prayed Friday when a young man whose house was nearby was concerned to return to his family. It continued for a Friday. On the following Friday, a man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, the houses have collapsed and travelers are held up.’” He said, “He ﷺ smiled at the quick boredom of the son of Adam and said with his hands, ‘O Allah, around us and not upon us.’” He said, “Then it cleared from Madinah.”
