The Prophet's emigration ﷺ
Translation
✧ [The successive arrivals of the emigrants to the Messenger ﷺ in Madinah] Ibn Isḥāq said: The emigrants followed one another to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, until none of them remained in Makkah except one who was afflicted [in his religion] or detained. And no household migrated from Makkah with their families and wealth to Allah, Blessed and Exalted, and to His Messenger ﷺ except named houses: Banū Maẓʿūn of Banū Jumaḥ; Banū Jaḥsh b. Riʾāb, allies of Banū Umayyah; and Banū al-Bukayr, of Banū Saʿd b. Layth, allies of Banū ʿAdī b. Kaʿb. Their houses were locked in Makkah as a result of migration, with no dweller in them. [Abū Sufyān's aggression against the house of Banū Jaḥsh, and the story concerning that] When Banū Jaḥsh b. Riʾāb left their house, Abū Sufyān b. Ḥarb pounced upon it and sold it to ʿAmr b. ʿAlqamah, a brother of Banū ʿĀmir b. Luʾayy. When Banū Jaḥsh learned what Abū Sufyān had done with their house, ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaḥsh mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "Would you not be pleased, O ʿAbd Allāh, that Allah should give you instead a house better than it in Paradise?" He said: "Yes." He said: "That is yours." When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ conquered Makkah, Abū Aḥmad spoke to him about their house. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delayed in responding to him. The people said to Abū Aḥmad: "O Abū Aḥmad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dislikes that you return to any of your property that was taken from you for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic." So he refrained from speaking to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and said to Abū Sufyān: : Inform Abū Sufyān of a matter whose outcome is regret The house of your cousin you sold it To settle thereby your debt And your ally by Allah, Lord of Mankind, strives in the oath Go with it, go with it You have been encircled with it like the ring of a dove
