The Prophet's emigration ﷺ
Translation
✧ And around the noble mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, chambers were built to serve as dwellings for him and his family. They were dwellings of low construction, with small courtyards. Al-Ḥasan b. Abī al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī said—and he was a young boy with his mother Khayra, the freedwoman of Umm Salamah—: "I could reach the highest ceiling in the chambers of the Prophet ﷺ with my hand." I say: except that al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī was indeed a large, tall figure, may Allah have mercy on him. Al-Suhaylī said in "al-Rawḍ": His dwellings (peace and blessings be upon him) were built of palm branches covered with clay, some of them of stacked stones, and their roofs were all of palm branches. He related from al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī what has preceded, saying: And his chambers were of hair tied to wood of ʿarʿar. He said: And in the "Tārīkh" of al-Bukhārī, it is mentioned that his door (peace and blessings be upon him) was knocked upon with fingernails, which indicates that his doors had no rings. He said: And all the chambers were incorporated into the mosque after the death of the wives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
