The Prophet's emigration ﷺ
Translation
✧ [ The Messenger's foretelling to ʿAmmār that the transgressing party would kill him ] He said: ʿAmmār b. Yāsir entered, and they had loaded him heavily with bricks, and he said: O Messenger of Allah, they have killed me; they load upon me what they do not load [upon others]. Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shaking his forelock with his hand—he was a man with tightly curled hair—while saying: Woe to the son of Sumayyah! It is not they who will kill you; rather the transgressing party will kill you. [ What occurred between ʿAmmār and one of the Companions of a quarrel ] Ibn Isḥāq said: So ʿAmmār b. Yāsir took it up and began to recite it as a rajaz verse. Ibn Hishām said: When he repeated it much, a man among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ thought that he was only alluding to him. [ The Messenger's charge concerning ʿAmmār ] Ibn Isḥāq said: He said: I have heard what you have been saying since today, O son of Sumayyah. By Allah, I think I shall present this staff to your nose. He said: And in his hand was a staff. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry, then said: What is the matter with them and with ʿAmmār? He calls them to Paradise, and they call him to the Fire. Truly ʿAmmār is the skin between my two eyes and my nose. When it reaches that point with a man and he is not spared, then avoid him.
