Translation
✧ [Abū Bakr offers a mount to the Messenger ﷺ] Ibn Isḥāq said: When Abū Bakr ؓ brought the two mounts close to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he presented the better of them to him, then said: “Ride, may my father and mother be your ransom.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I will not ride a camel that is not mine.” He said: “It is yours, O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be your ransom.” He said: “No, but what was the price for which you bought it?” He said: “Such and such.” He said: “I have taken it for that price.” He said: “It is yours, O Messenger of Allah.” So they rode and departed, and Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq ؓ mounted ʿĀmir b. Fuhayrah, his freedman, behind him to serve them on the way.
