The Prophet's emigration ﷺ

Translation

✧ [The two sons of Abū Bakr and Ibn Fuhayrah attending to the affairs of the Messenger and his companion while they were in the cave] Ibn Isḥāq said: The Messenger of God ﷺ remained in the cave for three nights, and with him was Abū Bakr. Quraysh, when they lost him, set a reward of one hundred she-camels for whoever returned him to them. ʿAbd Allāh b. Abī Bakr would spend his day among Quraysh, listening to what they plotted and what they said concerning the Messenger of God ﷺ and Abū Bakr; then when evening came he would go to the two of them and tell them the news. ʿĀmir b. Fuhayrah, the freedman of Abū Bakr ؓ, would graze among the flocks of the people of Makkah. When evening came he would bring Abū Bakr's sheep back to them, and they would milk and slaughter. When ʿAbd Allāh b. Abī Bakr left them in the morning for Makkah, ʿĀmir b. Fuhayrah would follow his tracks with the sheep until he obliterated them. When the three nights had passed and the people had calmed down concerning them, their companion whom they had hired came to them with their two camels and a camel of his own, and Asmāʾ bt. Abī Bakr ؓ brought them their travelling provisions. She had forgotten to make a strap for them. When they set out, she went to hang up the provisions and found there was no strap, so she undid her waistband and made it into a strap, then hung them with it. Thus Asmāʾ bt. Abī Bakr came to be called "She of the Waistband" for that reason. Ibn Hishām said: I heard more than one of the people of knowledge say: "She of the Two Waistbands." Its explanation is that when she wanted to hang up the provisions, she tore her waistband in two, hung the provisions with one, and girded herself with the other.
