The story of Noah (peace be upon him)
وَقَدْ أَنْكَرَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ جَهَلَةِ الْفُرْسِ وَأَهْلِ الْهِنْدِ، وُقُوعَ الطُّوفَانِ، وَاعْتَرَفَ بِهِ آخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ. وَقَالُوا: إِنَّمَا كَانَ بِأَرْضِ بَابِلَ، وَلَمْ يَصِلْ إِلَيْنَا. قَالُوا: وَلَمْ نَزَلْ نَتَوَارَثُ الْمُلْكَ كَابِرًا عَنْ كَابِرٍ مِنْ لَدُنْ كُيُومُرْثَ يَعْنُونَ آدَمَ إِلَى زَمَانِنَا هَذَا. قَالُوا: وَلَوْ كَانَ كَذَلِكَ لَكَانَ نَسَبُ الْقَوْمِ قَدِ انْقَطَعَ وَمُلْكُهُمْ قَدِ اضْمَحَلَّ، وَكَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ يُقِرُّ بِالطُّوفَانِ وَيَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي إِقْلِيمِ بَابِلَ وَمَا قَرُبَ مِنْهُ، وَأَنَّ مَسَاكِنَ وَلَدِ جُيُومَرْثَ كَانَتْ بِالْمَشْرِقِ فَلَمْ يَصِلْ ذَلِكَ إِلَيْهِمْ، وَقَوْلُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى أَصْدَقُ فِي أَنَّ ذُرِّيَّةَ نُوحٍ هُمُ الْبَاقُونَ فَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ أَحَدٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ فِي السَّفِينَةِ غَيْرَ وَلَدِهِ سَامٍ، وَحَامٍ، وَيَافِثَ وَهَذَا قَالَهُ مَنْ قَالَهُ مِنْ زَنَادِقَةِ الْمَجُوسِ عُبَّادِ النِّيرَانِ، وَأَتْبَاعِ الشَّيْطَانِ. وَهَذِهِ سَفْسَطَةٌ مِنْهُمْ، وَكُفْرٌ فَظِيعٌ، وَجَهْلٌ بَلِيغٌ، وَمُكَابَرَةٌ لِلْمَحْسُوسَاتِ، وَتَكْذِيبٌ لِرَبِّ الْأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتِ. وَقَدْ أَجْمَعَ أَهْلُ الْأَدْيَانِ النَّاقِلُونَ عَنْ رُسُلِ الرَّحْمَنِ مَعَ مَا تَوَاتَرَ عِنْدَ النَّاسِ فِي سَائِرِ الْأَزْمَانِ عَلَى وُقُوعِ الطُّوفَانِ، وَأَنَّهُ عَمَّ جَمِيعَ الْبِلَادِ، وَلَمْ يُبْقِ اللَّهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ كَفَرَةِ الْعِبَادِ ; اسْتِجَابَةً لِدَعْوَةِ نَبِيِّهِ الْمُؤَيِّدِ الْمَعْصُومِ، وَتَنْفِيذًا لِمَا سَبَقَ فِي الْقَدَرِ الْمَحْتُومِ.
Translation
✧ A group of the ignorant Persians and the people of India denied the occurrence of the flood, while others among them acknowledged it. They said: It was only in the land of Bābil, and did not reach us. They said: We have continued to inherit kingship, one generation after another, from the time of Kiyūmurth—meaning Ādam—until this time of ours. They said: Had it been so, the lineage of the people would have been cut off and their kingdom would have vanished. Some of them acknowledged the flood and claimed that it was in the region of Bābil and what was near it, and that the dwellings of the descendants of Jayūmarth were in the east, so it did not reach them. The word of Allah, Exalted is He, is more truthful: that the progeny of Nūḥ are the ones who remained, and no one who was with him in the ship left descendants other than his sons Sām, Ḥām, and Yāfith. This was said by those who said it among the heretics of the Magians, worshippers of fires, and followers of Satan. This is sophistry from them, horrendous disbelief, profound ignorance, obstinate denial of things perceptible, and a denial of the Lord of the earth and the heavens. The adherents of the religions who transmitted from the messengers of the Most Merciful have unanimously agreed, along with what has been mass-transmitted among people in all times, on the occurrence of the flood and that it covered all lands, and that Allah did not spare anyone of the disbelieving servants; in answer to the supplication of His supported, infallible prophet, and in execution of what had already been decreed in the inescapable destiny.
