The first pledge of al-Aqabah and the beginning of the Ansar's entry into Islam

✧ THE FIRST PLEDGE OF AL-ʿAQABAH AND THE BEGINNING OF THE ANṢĀR'S ENTRY INTO ISLAM: When Allah Almighty willed to make His religion prevail over all religions and to empower it on earth, Allah Almighty decreed that the Prophet ﷺ should go out presenting himself to the tribes during the seasonal fair, as he used to do every year. A group from al-Khazraj, from among the clients of the Jews, met him, and the Prophet ﷺ spoke to them. That coincided with what the Jews used to tell them about the description of the Prophet ﷺ. So they seized the opportunity, believed in the Prophet ﷺ, accepted what he presented to them of Islam, and hoped that Allah Almighty would unite the word of their people through him after the evil and enmity that had occurred among them. These individuals from al-Khazraj returned to their people, and in the following year they came as twelve men and pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ with the pledge of women. Then they returned to al-Madinah, and Muṣʿab b. ʿUmayr ؓ returned with them. He stayed with Asʿad b. Zurārah and continued calling the people until Allah honored Usayd b. Ḥuḍayr and Saʿd b. Muʿādh with Islam at his hands in the course of their attempt to prevent him from preaching, which happened when they heard what he was calling them to of Islam.
