Genealogy of Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Some Accounts of His Forefathers and Ancestors

Translation

✧ The Day of Bāriq Al-Mufaḍḍal al-Ḍabbī said: Banū Taghlib, al-Namir b. Qāsiṭ, and some people from Tamīm fought one another until they halted at the district of Bāriq, which is part of the land of al-Sawād. They sent a delegation from among them to Bakr b. Wāʾil seeking peace from them. Shaybān and those with them gathered, and they intended to make for Taghlib and those with them. Zayd b. Sharīk al-Shaybānī said: “I have granted protection to my maternal uncles, who are al-Namir b. Qāsiṭ.” So they carried out his protection and marched, and they fell upon Banū Taghlib and Tamīm, killing a great slaughter among them the like of which Taghlib had not suffered. They divided the captives and the wealth, and it was one of the greatest battle-days against them: the men were killed, the wealth was plundered, and the women were taken captive. Abū Kalbah al-Shaybānī said: And a night at Suʿādā left no support for a Taghlibī, nor pride, nor lineage; and the Namirīs, were it not for the secret of those from whom they were born, from the house of Murrah, the tribe would have been spread abroad as plunder.
