The story of the creation of Adam (peace be upon him)
Translation
✧ And Allah (mighty and majestic be He) sent down a ruby from the rubies of the Garden, and placed it in the site of the Kaʿbah, and He revealed to Adam: “I have a sanctuary opposite My Throne; so depart, and build for Me a house in it, then encircle it as you saw My angels encircling My Throne; there I shall answer you, and your descendants, whoever of them remains in obedience to Me.” Adam said: “O Lord, how shall I manage that! I am not able to do it, nor can I find the way to it.” So Allah appointed an angel, and he set out with him toward Makkah. Whenever Adam passed by a meadow, he said to the angel: “Alight with us here.” The angel would say: “Stay where you are,” until he arrived at Makkah. Every place where Adam alighted became cultivated, and whatever was besides that remained desert wastes. He built the House from five mountains: from Mount Sinai, the Mount of Olives, Lebanon, and al-Jūdī, and he built its foundations from Ḥirāʾ. When he finished building it, the angel took him out to ʿArafāt and showed him the rites which people perform today. Then he brought him to Makkah, and he circumambulated the House for a week, then returned to India and died at Nawdh. It is said: Adam performed the pilgrimage from India forty times on foot. It is also said: Adam met Ḥawwāʾ at ʿArafāt, then they separated, and he returned with her to India, and they took a cave in which they sought shelter.
