Then the year 369 AH began
ذِكْرُ الْحَرْبِ بَيْنَ بَنِي شَيْبَانَ وَعَسْكَرِ عَضُدِ الدَّوْلَةِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ، فِي رَجَبٍ، سَيَّرَ عَضُدُ الدَّوْلَةِ جَيْشًا إِلَى بَنِي شَيْبَانَ، وَكَانُوا قَدْ أَكْثَرُوا الْغَارَاتِ عَلَى الْبِلَادِ وَالْفَسَادَ، وَعَجَزَ الْمُلُوكُ عَنْ طَلَبِهِمْ، وَكَانُوا قَدْ عَقَدُوا بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ أَكْرَادِ شَهْرَزُورَ مُصَاهِرَاتٍ، وَكَانَتْ شَهْرَزُورُ مُمْتَنِعَةً عَلَى الْمُلُوكِ، فَأَمَرَ عَضُدُ الدَّوْلَةِ عَسْكَرَهُ بِمُنَازَلَةِ شَهْرَزُورَ لِيَنْقَطِعَ طَمَعُ بَنِي شَيْبَانَ عَنِ التَّحَصُّنِ بِهَا، فَاسْتَوْلَى أَصْحَابُهُ عَلَيْهَا وَمَلَكُوهَا، فَهَرَبَ بَنُو شَيْبَانَ، وَسَارَ الْعَسْكَرُ فِي طَلَبِهِمْ، وَأَوْقَعُوا بِهِمْ وَقِيعَةً عَظِيمَةً قُتِلَ مِنْ بَنِي شَيْبَانَ فِيهَا خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ، وَنُهِبَتْ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَنِسَاؤُهُمْ، وَأُسِرَ مِنْهُمْ ثَمَانُمِائَةِ أَسِيرٍ وَحُمِلُوا إِلَى بَغْدَاذَ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the war between Banū Shaybān and the army of ʿAḍud al-Dawlah In this year, in Rajab, ʿAḍud al-Dawlah dispatched an army against Banū Shaybān. They had multiplied their raids upon the lands and corruption, and the kings were unable to pursue them. They had contracted marriage alliances between themselves and the Kurds of Shahrazūr, and Shahrazūr was impregnable against the kings. ʿAḍud al-Dawlah commanded his army to encamp at Shahrazūr so that the hope of Banū Shaybān in fortifying themselves there would be cut off. His companions took possession of it and seized it. Banū Shaybān fled, and the army went in pursuit of them and inflicted upon them a great slaughter, in which many creatures of Banū Shaybān were killed. Their wealth and women were plundered, and eight hundred captives were taken from them and conveyed to Baghdādh.
