Then the year 368 AH began
وقوع زلازل شديدة فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ كَانَتْ زَلَازِلُ شَدِيدَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ، وَكَانَ أَشَدُّهَا بِالْعِرَاقِ . وَمِنَ الْحَوَادِثِ فِيهَا: تَقَدُّمُ الطَّائِعِ بِأَنْ تُقَامَ الْخُطْبَةُ لِعَضُدِ الدَّوْلَةِ أَنَّ الطَّائِعَ تَقَدَّمَ فِي شَعْبَانَ بِأَنْ تُقَامَ الْخُطْبَةُ لِعَضُدِ الدَّوْلَةِ عَلَى مَنَابِرِ الْحَضْرَةِ تَالِيَةً لِلْخُطْبَةِ لَهُ، فَوَقَعَ الِابْتِدَاءُ بِذَلِكَ فِي يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ لِتِسْعٍ بَقِينَ مِنْهُ، وَبِأَنْ تُضْرَبَ عَلَى بَابِهِ بِبَغْدَادَ الدَّبَادِبُ فِي أَوْقَاتِ الصَّلَوَاتِ الثَّلَاثِ: الْغَدَاةُ، وَالْمَغْرِبُ، وَالْعِشَاءُ. وَهَذَانِ الْأَمْرَانِ لَمْ يَكُونَا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَلَا أُطْلِقَا لِوُلَاةِ الْعُهُودِ، وَلَا خُطِبَ بِحَضْرَةِ السُّلْطَانِ إِلَّا لَهُ، وَلَا ضَرَبَتِ الدَّبَادِبُ إِلَّا عَلَى بَابِهِ، وَقَدْ كَانَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ أَحَبَّ أَنْ تُضْرَبَ لَهُ الدَّبَادِبُ بِمَدِينَةِ السَّلَامِ، وَسَأَلَ الْمُطِيعَ لِلَّهِ ذَاكَ، فَلَمْ يَأْذَنْ لَهُ، وَدَخَلَ عَضُدُ الدَّوْلَةِ دَارَهُ بِمَدِينَةِ السَّلَامِ عَائِدًا مِنَ الْمَوْصِلِ، وَتَلَقَّاهُ الطَّائِعُ بِقُطْرُبَلَ.
Translation
✧ Severe earthquakes occurred In this year there were many severe earthquakes, the most violent of them being in Iraq. Among the events in it: The order of al-Ṭāʾiʿ that the khuṭbah be delivered for ʿAḍud al-Dawlah Al-Ṭāʾiʿ ordered in Shaʿbān that the khuṭbah be delivered for ʿAḍud al-Dawlah from the pulpits of the capital, following the khuṭbah for himself. The commencement of that took place on Friday, nine nights remaining of it, and that drums be beaten at his gate in Baghdad at the times of the three prayers: dawn, sunset, and night. These two things had not been done before, nor were they granted to heirs apparent, nor was the khuṭbah delivered in the presence of the sultan except for him, nor were drums beaten except at his gate. Muʿizz al-Dawlah had desired that drums be beaten for him in the City of Peace, and he asked al-Muṭīʿ li-llāh for that, but he did not permit him. And ʿAḍud al-Dawlah entered his residence in the City of Peace, returning from Mosul, and al-Ṭāʾiʿ met him at Quṭrubbul.
