Then the year 362 AH began
[ دُخُولُ جُمُوعِ الرُّومِ إِلَى بِلَادِ الْإِسْلَامِ ] دُخُولُ جُمُوعِ الرُّومِ إِلَى بِلَادِ الْإِسْلَامِ، فَإِنَّهُمْ دَخَلُوا نَصِيبِينَ وَاسْتَبَاحُوا، وَقَتَلُوا كَثِيرًا مِنْ رِجَالِهَا، وَسَبَوْا مِنْ نِسَائِهَا وَصِبْيَانِهَا، وَأَقَامُوا بِهَا نَيِّفًا وَعِشْرِينَ يَوْمًا، وَغَلَبُوا عَلَى دِيَارِ رَبِيعَةَ بِأَسْرِهَا، وَوَرَدَ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ تِلْكَ الْبِلَادِ، فَاسْتَقَرُّوا فِي الْجَوَامِعِ، وَكَسَرُوا الْمَنَابِرَ، وَمَنَعُوا الْخُطْبَةَ، وَحَاوَلُوا الْهُجُومَ عَلَى دَارِ الْمُطِيعِ لِلَّهِ، وَاقْتَلَعُوا بَعْضَ شَبَابِيكِهَا، حَتَّى غُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُهَا، وَرَمَاهُمُ الْغِلْمَانُ بِالنِّشَابِ مِنْ رَوَاشِنِهَا وَحِيطَانِهَا، وَخَاطَبُوهُ بِمَا نُسِبُوهُ فِيهِ إِلَى الْعَجْزِ عَنْ مَا أَوْجَبَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْأَئِمَّةِ، وَأَفْحَشُوا الْقَوْلَ
Translation
✧ [Entry of Byzantine forces into the lands of Islam] The entry of Byzantine forces into the lands of Islam: they entered Naṣībīn and ravaged it, killing many of its men and taking captive some of its women and children, and they remained there for more than twenty days, and they took control of all the lands of Rabīʿa. A great many people from those lands arrived in Baghdad and settled in the congregational mosques, and they broke the pulpits, prevented the Friday sermon, attempted to assault the palace of al-Muṭīʿ li-llāh, and tore out some of its windows until its doors were closed, and the servants shot arrows at them from its balconies and walls. They addressed him, attributing to him inability to fulfill what God has made incumbent upon leaders, and they spoke most obscenely.
