Aḥmad b. al-Sarī, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Kindī al-Raffāʾ the poet of Mosul. Ibn al-Athīr dated his death in this year — I mean the year 360 — and his death was in Baghdad. He mentioned that a group came to visit him, and they heard him groaning from a pain he had, so they objected to him. When he came out to them, he said to them: “Āh is one of the names of God, to which the afflicted seek relief.” He said: He increased in their eyes and they revered him. I say: What he said is not accepted from him without evidence; rather, it needs sound transmission from the infallible one, for the names of God Almighty are determined by revelation, according to the sound view. And God Almighty knows best what is correct.
