Translation
✧ Mention of the uprising of Abū Khazar in Ifrīqiyah In this year, Abū Khazar al-Zanātī rose up in Ifrīqiyah, and great crowds of Berbers and Nakkār gathered to him. Al-Muʿizz went out against him in person, desiring to fight him, until he reached the city of Bāghāyah. Abū Khazar was near it, fighting al-Muʿizz's deputy over it. When Abū Khazar heard of al-Muʿizz's proximity, his crowds dispersed from him. Al-Muʿizz set out in pursuit of him, but he took to rugged terrain. Al-Muʿizz returned and ordered Abū al-Futūḥ Yūsuf Bulukkīn b. Zīrī to set out in pursuit of him wherever he had gone. He went in his tracks until news of him was hidden from him, and al-Muʿizz reached his residence at al-Manṣūriyyah. When it was Rabīʿ II of the year fifty-nine and three hundred, Abū Khazar the Khārijite came to al-Muʿizz seeking safety and requesting to enter into obedience to him. Al-Muʿizz accepted that from him and rejoiced at it, and granted him abundant provision. He reached him, and immediately after this situation, Jawhar wrote of the establishment of the daʿwah for him in Egypt and Syria, and invited him to journey to him. Al-Muʿizz rejoiced greatly and showed it to all the people (and the poets praised him; among those who mentioned that was Muḥammad b. Hāniʾ al-Andalusī), and he said: The Banū al-ʿAbbās say, "Egypt has been conquered." So say to the Banū al-ʿAbbās: "The matter has been settled."
