ذِكْرُ مَا كُتِبَ عَلَى مَسَاجِدِ بَغْدَاذَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ فِي رَبِيعٍ الْآخَرِ، كَتَبَ عَامَّةُ الشِّيعَةِ بِبَغْدَاذَ بِأَمْرِ مُعِزِّ الدَّوْلَةِ عَلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ مَا هَذِهِ صُورَتُهُ: لَعَنَ اللَّهُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَلَعَنَ مَنْ غَصَبَ فَاطِمَةَ ؓ فَدْكًا، وَمَنْ مَنَعَ مِنْ أَنْ يُدْفَنَ الْحَسَنُ عِنْدَ قَبْرِ جَدِّهِ - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، وَمَنْ نَفَى أَبَا ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيَّ، وَمَنْ أَخْرَجَ الْعَبَّاسَ مِنَ الشُّورَى، فَأَمَّا الْخَلِيفَةُ فَكَانَ مَحْكُومًا عَلَيْهِ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَى الْمَنْعِ، وَأَمَّا مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ فَبِأَمْرِهِ كَانَ ذَلِكَ. فَلَمَّا كَانَ اللَّيْلُ، حَكَّهُ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ، فَأَرَادَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ إِعَادَتَهُ، فَأَشَارَ عَلَيْهِ الْوَزِيرُ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ بِأَنْ يَكْتُبَ مَكَانَ مَا مُحِيَ: لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الظَّالِمِينَ لِآلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - ﷺ، وَلَا يَذْكُرُ أَحَدًا فِي اللَّعْنِ إِلَّا مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ.
Translation
✧ Mention of what was written on the mosques of Baghdad In this year, in Rabīʿ al-Ākhir, the common Shīʿa of Baghdad, by order of Muʿizz al-Dawlah, wrote on the mosques what follows in form: "May God curse Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān, and may He curse whoever usurped Fadak from Fāṭimah ؓ, and whoever prevented al-Ḥasan from being buried by the grave of his grandfather ﷺ, and whoever exiled Abū Dharr al-Ghifārī, and whoever removed al-ʿAbbās from the shūrā." As for the caliph, he was under constraint and unable to forbid it; and as for Muʿizz al-Dawlah, it was by his order. When night came, some people erased it. Muʿizz al-Dawlah wanted to restore it, but the vizier Abū Muḥammad al-Muhallabī advised him to write in place of what had been erased: "May God curse the wrongdoers against the family of the Messenger of God ﷺ," and not to mention anyone in the curse except Muʿāwiyah. So he did that.
