Then the year 351 AH began
ذِكْرُ اسْتِيلَاءِ رُكْنِ الدَّوْلَةِ بْنِ بُوَيْهِ عَلَى طَبَرِسْتَانَ وَجُرْجَانَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ فِي الْمُحَرَّمِ، سَارَ رُكْنُ الدَّوْلَةِ إِلَى طَبَرِسْتَانَ، وَبِهَا وَشْمَكِيرُ، فَنَزَلَ عَلَى مَدِينَةِ سَارِيَةَ فَحَصَرَهَا وَمَلَكَهَا، فَفَارَقَ حِينَئِذٍ وَشْمَكِيرُ طَبَرِسْتَانَ وَقَصَدَ جُرْجَانَ، ( فَأَقَامَ رُكْنُ الدَّوْلَةِ بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ إِلَى أَنْ مَلَكَهَا كُلَّهَا، وَأَصْلَحَ أُمُورَهَا، وَسَارَ فِي طَلَبِ وَشْمَكِيرَ إِلَى جُرْجَانَ )، فَأَزَاحَ وَشْمَكِيرَ عَنْهَا، وَاسْتَوْلَى عَلَيْهَا، وَاسْتَأْمَنَ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ عَسْكَرِ وَشْمَكِيرَ ثَلَاثَةُ آلَافِ رَجُلٍ، فَازْدَادَ قُوَّةً، وَازْدَادَ وَشْمَكِيرُ ضَعْفًا وَوَهْنًا، فَدَخَلَ بِلَادَ الْجَبَلِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of Rukn al-Dawlah b. Buwayh's seizure of Tabaristan and Jurjan In this year, in Muharram, Rukn al-Dawlah marched to Tabaristan, where Washmakir was. He encamped before the city of Sariyah, besieged it, and took possession of it. At that point Washmakir departed from Tabaristan and headed for Jurjan. Rukn al-Dawlah remained in Tabaristan until he had taken all of it, set its affairs in order, and then marched in pursuit of Washmakir toward Jurjan. He drove Washmakir out of it and seized control of it. Three thousand men from Washmakir's army sought safety with him, so his strength increased, while Washmakir's weakness and feebleness increased, and he entered the lands of al-Jabal.
