عُقُوبَةُ كَذَّابٍ عَلَى مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ قَالَ: كَانَ رَجُلٌ يَخْدِمُ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، وَيَتَعَلَّمُ مِنْهُ، قَالَ: فَاسْتَأْذَنَهُ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى قَرْيَتِهِ ثُمَّ يَعُودُ إِلَيْهِ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فَانْطَلَقَ، فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى كَلِيمُ اللَّهِ بِكَذَا وَكَذَا، وَحَدَّثَنِي نَجِّيُ اللَّهِ بِكَذَا حَتَّى كَثُرَ مَالُهُ، وَجَعَلَ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ يَسْأَلُ عَنْهُ، وَلَا يُخْبَرُ بِشَيْءٍ. فَبَيْنَمَا مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَاعِدٌ إِذْ مَرَّ بِهِ رَجُلٌ يَقُودُ خَزْرًا فِي عُنُقِهِ حَبَلٌ - وَالْخَزْرُ الْأَرْنَبُ الذَّكَرُ - فَقَالَ: يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَيْنَ أَقْبَلْتَ ؟ قَالَ: أَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ قَرْيَةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، مِنْ قَرْيَةِ الرَّجُلِ قَالَ: فَتَعْرِفُ فُلَانًا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، هُوَ الَّذِي فِي يَدِي، قَالَ مُوسَى: يَا رَبِّ رُدَّهُ إِلَى حَالِهِ حَتَّى أَسْأَلَهُ فِيمَا صَنَعْتَ بِهِ هَذَا، فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ تَعَالَى إِلَيْهِ لَوْ سَأَلَنِي آدَمُ فَمَنْ دُونَهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ لَمْ أَرُدَّهُ إِلَى حَالِهِ، وَإِنَّمَا صَنَعْتُ بِهِ هَذَا لِأَنَّهُ كَانَ يَطْلُبُ الدُّنْيَا بِالدِّينِ
Translation
✧ The punishment of a liar against Moses ﷺ From a man of the people of knowledge, he said: There was a man who served Moses ﷺ and learned from him. He said: He asked his permission to return to his village and then come back to him, so he permitted him, and he departed. He began to say: “Moses, the one to whom God spoke, told me such and such, and the confidant of God told me such and such,” until his wealth became abundant. Moses ﷺ began to ask about him, but he was not informed of anything. While Moses ﷺ was sitting, a man passed by him leading a male rabbit with a rope around its neck—the khazr is the male rabbit—so he said: “O servant of God, from where have you come?” He said: “I have come from such and such a village, from the man’s village.” He said: “Do you know so-and-so?” He said: “Yes, he is the one in my hand.” Moses said: “O Lord, return him to his former state so that I may ask him about what You have done to him for this.” Then God Almighty revealed to him: “Even if Adam and those below him among the prophets, down to Muhammad ﷺ, were to ask Me, I would not return him to his former state. I did this to him only because he sought the world through religion.”
