Translation
✧ Then the year 327 AH began. Account of the march of al-Rāḍī and Bujkam to Mosul, and the appearance of Ibn Rāʾiq and his march to Syria. In this year, in Muḥarram, al-Rāḍī billāh and Bujkam marched to Mosul and Diyār Rabīʿa. The reason for this was that Nāṣir al-Dawla b. Ḥamdān delayed the money which he owed for the tax-farming of the lands in his possession, and al-Rāḍī was angered at him on that account. So he and Bujkam marched to Mosul, accompanied by the Chief Qāḍī Abū al-Ḥusayn ʿUmar b. Muḥammad. When they reached Tikrīt, al-Rāḍī stayed there, while Bujkam went on. Nāṣir al-Dawla met him at al-Kaḥīl, six parasangs from Mosul, and they fought. The battle was fierce, and Nāṣir al-Dawla's men were defeated and went to Naṣībīn. Bujkam pursued them without stopping at Mosul. When he reached Naṣībīn, Ibn Ḥamdān went to Āmid. Bujkam wrote to al-Rāḍī announcing the victory, and al-Rāḍī set out from Tikrīt by water, heading for Mosul. With al-Rāḍī was a group of Qarmaṭians, who left him for Baghdād before Bujkam's letter arrived; Ibn Rāʾiq had been corresponding with them. When they reached Baghdād, Ibn Rāʾiq emerged from hiding and took control of Baghdād, but he did not touch the caliph's palace. The news reached al-Rāḍī, so he disembarked from the water to land and went to Mosul, writing to Bujkam of this. Bujkam returned from Naṣībīn. When news of his return reached Nāṣir al-Dawla, he marched from Āmid to Naṣībīn and took possession of it and of Diyār Rabīʿa. Bujkam was alarmed at this, and his men slipped away to Baghdād, so that he had to guard his remaining men, saying: "The Caliph and the Amīr al-Umarāʾ have obtained the citadel of Mosul, and that is enough." Before news of Ibn Rāʾiq reached him, Ibn Ḥamdān had sent to seek peace and to pay five hundred thousand dirhams immediately. Bujkam was pleased at this and reported it to al-Rāḍī, who agreed. Peace was concluded between them, and al-Rāḍī and Bujkam went down to Baghdād. Ibn Rāʾiq had already sent them a message with Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad b. Yaḥyā b. Shīrazād, seeking peace. He travelled to them at Mosul and delivered the message to Bujkam. Bujkam honoured him, lodged him with himself, treated him well, and brought him before al-Rāḍī, to whom he also delivered the message. Al-Rāḍī and Bujkam agreed to what he asked, and in reply to his message they sent the Chief Qāḍī Abū al-Ḥusayn ʿUmar b. Muḥammad, granting him the Euphrates route and Diyār Muḍar—Ḥarrān, al-Ruhā, and their environs—as well as the army of Qinnasrīn and the border fortresses. Ibn Rāʾiq also agreed to this arrangement and left Baghdād for his province. Al-Rāḍī and Bujkam entered Baghdād on the ninth of Rabīʿ al-Ākhir.
