Then the Year 324 AH Began
ثُمَّ دَخَلَتْ سَنَةُ أَرْبَعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ ذِكْرُ الْقَبْضِ عَلَى ابْنِ مُقْلَةَ وَوِزَارَةِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عِيسَى لَمَّا عَادَ الرُّسُلُ مِنْ عِنْدِ ابْنِ رَائِقٍ بِغَيْرِ مَالٍ، رَأَى الْوَزِيرُ أَنْ يُسَيِّرَ ابْنَهُ، فَتَجَهَّزَ، وَأَظْهَرَ أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُ الْأَهْوَازَ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ مُنْتَصَفُ جُمَادَى الْأُولَى، حَضَرَ الْوَزِيرُ دَارَ الرَّاضِي لِيُنْفِذَ رَسُولًا إِلَى ابْنِ رَائِقٍ يُعَرِّفُهُ عَزْمَهُ عَلَى قَصْدِ الْأَهْوَازِ ; لِئَلَّا يَسْتَوْحِشَ لِحَرَكَتِهِ فَيَحْتَاطُ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ الدَّارَ، قَبَضَ عَلَيْهِ الْمُظَفَّرُ بْنُ يَاقُوتٍ وَالْحَجَرِيَّةُ، وَكَانَ الْمُظَفَّرُ قَدْ أُطْلِقَ مِنْ مَحْبَسِهِ عَلَى مَا نَذْكُرُهُ. وَوَجَّهُوا إِلَى الرَّاضِي يُعَرِّفُونَهُ ذَلِكَ، فَاسْتَحْسَنَ فِعْلَهُمْ، وَاخْتَفَى أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ أَبِي عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُقْلَةَ وَسَائِرُ أَوْلَادِهِ وَحَرَمِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ، وَطَلَبَ الْحَجَرِيَّةُ وَالسَّاجِيَّةُ مِنَ الرَّاضِي أَنْ يَسْتَوْزِرَ وَزِيرًا، فَرَدَّ الِاخْتِيَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ، فَأَشَارُوا بِوِزَارَةِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عِيسَى، فَأَحْضَرَهُ الرَّاضِي لِلْوِزَارَةِ، فَامْتَنَعَ وَأَشَارَ بِأَخِيهِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فَاسْتَوْزَرَهُ، وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهِ ابْنَ مُقْلَةَ فَصَادَرَهُ وَصَرَفَ بَدْرًا الْخَرْشَنِيَّ عَنِ الشُّرْطَةِ، ثُمَّ عَجَزَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ تَمْشِيَةِ الْأُمُورِ وَضَاقَ عَلَيْهِ، فَاسْتَعْفَى [ مِنَ ] الْوِزَارَةِ.
Translation
✧ Then the year 324 AH began Mention of the arrest of Ibn Muqlah and the vizierate of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿĪsā When the messengers returned from Ibn Rāʾiq without money, the vizier saw fit to send his son, so he made preparations and made it appear that he intended to go to al-Ahwāz. When it was the middle of Jumādā al-Ūlā, the vizier attended the residence of al-Rāḍī to dispatch a messenger to Ibn Rāʾiq informing him of his determination to head for al-Ahwāz, lest he be alarmed by his movement and take precautions. But when he entered the residence, al-Muẓaffar b. Yāqūt and the Ḥajariyya seized him; al-Muẓaffar had been released from his prison, as we shall mention. They sent word to al-Rāḍī informing him of that, and he approved of their action. Abū al-Ḥusayn b. Abī ʿAlī b. Muqlah went into hiding, along with the rest of his sons, his household, and his companions. The Ḥajariyya and al-Sājiyya asked al-Rāḍī to appoint a vizier, and he referred the choice to them. They suggested the vizierate of ʿAlī b. ʿĪsā, so al-Rāḍī summoned him for the vizierate, but he declined and suggested his brother ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. So he appointed him as vizier and handed over Ibn Muqlah to him. He mulcted him and dismissed Badr al-Kharshanī from the shurṭa. Then ʿAbd al-Raḥmān proved incapable of managing affairs and was hard pressed, so he asked to be excused from the vizierate.
