ذِكْرُ مَنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ مِنَ الْأَكَابِرِ 2342 - إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَرَفَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ الْمُهَلَّبِ بْنِ أَبِي صُفْرَةَ الْأَزْدِيُّ الْعَتَكِيُّ [أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ] الْمَعْرُوفُ بِنَفْطَوَيْهِ : حَدَّثَ عَنْ خَلْقٍ كَثِيرٍ يَرْوِي عَنْهُ ابْنُ حَيْوَيَةَ، وَالْمَرْزُبَانِيُّ، وَالْمُعَافَى وَغَيْرُهُمْ. وَكَانَ صَدُوقًا وَلَهُ مُصَنَّفَاتٌ. قَالَ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ مُلَاعِبٍ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ: أَنْشَدَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ لِنَفْسِهِ: أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ مِمَّا يَعْلَمُ اللَّهُ إِنَّ الشَّقِيَّ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمِ اللَّهُ هَبْهُ تَجَاوَزَ لِي عَنْ كُلِّ مَظْلَمَةٍ وَا سَوْأَتَا مِنْ حَيَائِي يَوْمَ أَلْقَاهُ قَالَ ابْنُ رِزْقَوَيْهِ: أَنْشَدَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ أَنْشَدَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَرَفَةَ لِنَفْسِهِ: أُحِبُّ مِنَ الْإِخْوَانِ كُلَّ مُؤَاتِي وَكُلَّ غَضِيضِ الطَّرْفِ عَنْ عَثَرَاتِي يُطَاوِعُنِي فِي كُلِّ أَمْرٍ أُرِيدُهُ وَيَحْفَظُنِي حَيًّا وَبَعْدَ مَمَاتِي وَمَنْ لِي بِهِ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدْ أَصَبْتُهُ أُقَاسِمُهُ مَالِي وَمِنْ حَسَنَاتِي قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ: قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ شَاذَانَ: بَكَّرَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَرَفَةَ نِفْطَوَيْهِ يَوْمًا إِلَى دَرْبِ الرَّءَّاسِينَ، فَلَمْ يَعْرِفِ الْمَوْضِعَ فَتَقَدَّمَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ يَبِيعُ الْبَقْلَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: أَيُّهَا الشَّيْخُ كَيْفَ الطَّرِيقُ إِلَى دَرْبِ الرَّءَّاسِينَ، قَالَ: فَالْتَفَتَ الْبَقْلِيُّ إِلَى جَارٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ: يَا فُلَانُ أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى هَذَا الْغُلَامِ فَعَلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ وَصَنَعَ فَقَدِ احْتَبَسَ عَلَيَّ، فَقَالَ وَمَا الَّذِي تُرِيدُ مِنْهُ ؟ قَالَ: لَمْ يُبَادِرْ فَيَجِيئُنِي بِالسَّلْقِ بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ أَصْفَعُ هَذَا الْمَاصَّ بَظْرِ أُمِّهِ لَا يُكَنَّى، قَالَ: فَتَرَكَهُ ابْنُ عَرَفَةَ وَانْصَرَفَ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُجِيبَهُ بِشَيْءٍ. عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ كَامِلٍ الْقَاضِي، قَالَ: تُوُفِّيَ [إِبْرَاهِيمُ ] بْنُ عَرَفَةَ [فِي يَوْمِ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ ] لِسِتٍّ خَلَوْنَ مِنْ صَفَرِ سَنَةِ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ، وَدُفِنَ يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ فِي مَقَابِرِ بَابِ الْكُوفَةِ، وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ الْبَرْبَهَارِيُّ رَئِيسُ الْحَنَابِلَةِ، وَكَانَ حَسَنَ الِافْتِنَانِ فِي الْعُلُومِ، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ مَوْلِدَهُ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ، وَكَانَ يُخَضِّبُ بِالْوَسْمَةِ. 2343 - إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الْأَزْدِيُّ : وُلِدَ فِي رَجَبِ سَنَةِ أَرْبَعِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ، وَسَمِعَ خَلْقًا كَثِيرًا مِنْهُمُ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ. وَكَانَ ثِقَةً فَاضِلًا عَابِدًا. قَالَ الْقَاضِي أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ الْجَرَّاحِيُّ: مَا جِئْتُ إِلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا وَجَدْتُهُ قَائِمًا يُصَلِّي أَوْ جَالِسًا يَقْرَأُ. قَالَ الْخَلَّالُ: قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ: مَا رَأَيْتُ أَعْبَدَ مِنْهُ. تُوُفِّيَ فِي صَفَرِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2344 - إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَهْرَانَ بْنِ فَيْرُوزَ، أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْوَرَّاقُ: وُلِدَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ، وَسَمِعَ الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ بَكَّارٍ، وَالْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَرَفَةَ، وَعَلِيَّ بْنَ حَرْبٍ وَغَيْرَهُمْ، رَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ وَوَثَّقَهُ. وَكَانَ قَدْ حَجَّ فِي سَنَةِ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَمَاتَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ وَحُمِلَ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ فَدُفِنَ بِهَا. 2345 - أُسَامَةُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، أَبُو رَافِعٍ الرَّازِيُّ. وُلِدَ سَنَةَ خَمْسِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ. وَسَمِعَ الْحَدِيثَ وَأَكْثَرَ، وَكَانَ ثَبْتًا [ثِقَةً ]. وَتُوُفِّيَ بِمِصْرَ فِي ذِي الْحِجَّةِ مِنْ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2346 - بُنْدَارُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عِيسَى، أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَاضِي : كَانَ عَلَى قَضَاءِ اسْتَرَابَاذَ، وَكَانَ مَحْمُودَ الْأَثَرِ، صَحِيحَ الدِّيَانَةِ، فَاضِلًا ثِقَةً أَمِينًا. رَوَى عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ، وَمُعَاذِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى، وَبِشْرِ بْنِ مُوسَى وَغَيْرِهِمْ. وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2347 - سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْجَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ يُكَنَّى أَبَا الطَّيِّبِ: رَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ شَاهِينَ أَحَادِيثَ مُسْتَقِيمَةً. وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2348 - عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ الْمَعْرُوفُ بِابْنِ الْجَمَّالِ: سَمِعَ يَعْقُوبَ الدَّوْرَقِيَّ، وَعُمَرَ بْنَ شَبَّةَ، رَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ، وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ، وَكَانَ مِنَ الثِّقَاتِ. تُوُفِّيَ فِي رَمَضَانِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2349 - عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى، أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ السُّكَّرِيُّ : سَمِعَ زَكَرِيَّا بْنَ يَحْيَى الْمُنْقِرِي صَاحِبَ الْأَصْمَعِيِّ، وَابْنَ قُتَيْبَةَ. رَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ حَيْوَيَةَ، وَالدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ، وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ. وَكَانَ ثِقَةً نَبِيلًا. تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2350 - عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ الْمُهْتَدِي بِاللَّهِ، أَبُو عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَاشِمِيُّ. حَدَّثَ عَنْ سَيَّارِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْحَلَبِيِّ وَغَيْرِهِ. رَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ، وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ. وَكَانَ ثِقَةً يَتَفَقَّهُ عَلَى مَذْهَبِ الشَّافِعِيِّ، تُوُفِّيَ فِي رَمَضَانِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2351 - عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ، أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ الِاسْتَرَابَاذِيُّ: كَانَ مُقَدَّمًا فِي الْحَدِيثِ وَالْفِقْهِ. وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلَاثٍ وَثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً. 2352 - عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْوَرَّاقُ الْوَاسِطِيُّ : نَزَلَ بَغْدَادَ وَحَدَّثَ بِهَا، فَرَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً يَفْهَمُ الْحَدِيثَ، وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي شَوَّالِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2353 - عُثْمَانُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ بَكْرٍ، أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ السُّكَّرِيُّ: سَمِعَ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ مَنْصُورٍ الرَّمَادِيَّ، رَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ وَقَالَ: كَانَ مِنَ الثِّقَاتِ، تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2354 - عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ طَاهِرِ بْنِ نَصْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْبَلْخِيُّ: كَانَ مِنَ الْجَوَّالِينَ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ، سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْفَضْلِ الْبَلْخِيَّ، وَأَبَا حَاتِمٍ الرَّازِيَّ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً حَافِظًا. رَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ، وَابْنُ شَاهِينَ، تُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2355 - مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَسَدٍ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَافِظُ يُعْرَفُ بِابْنِ الْبُسْتُنْبَانِ: هَرَوِيُّ الْأَصْلِ، وُلِدَ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى وَأَرْبَعِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ، سَمِعَ الزُّبَيْرَ بْنَ بَكَّارٍ وَغَيْرَهُ، رَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ [وَغَيْرُهُ ]، وَكَانَ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا ثِقَةً. تُوُفِّيَ فِي رَجَبِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. 2356 - مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زِيَادِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ هَارُونَ، أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ الْمَعْرُوفُ بِابْنِ بُلْبُلٍ : رَوَى عَنْهُ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ، وَكَانَ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا ثِقَةً. قَالَ صَالِحُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَافِظُ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزَّعْفَرَانِيَّ، يَقُولُ: رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي الْمَنَامِ [فِي ] سَنَةِ نَيِّفٍ وَتِسْعِينَ وَمِائَتَيْنِ وَفِي رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ بَيَاضٌ كَثِيرٌ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِي رَأْسِكَ وَلِحْيَتِكَ إِلَّا شَعَرَاتٌ بِيضٌ، فَقَالَ: ذَلِكَ لِدُخُولِ سَنَةِ ثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ. قَالَ صَالِحٌ: وَتُوُفِّيَ سَنَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَثَلَاثِمِائَةٍ. وَفِيهَا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدَوَيْهِ بْنِ سَدُوسٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ مِنْ وَلَدِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ بِالْكُوفَةِ ، وَهُوَ مِنْ نَيْسَابُورَ. وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَرَفَةَ الْمَعْرُوفُ بِنَفْطَوَيْهِ النَّحْوِيِّ، وَلَهُ مُصَنَّفَاتٌ، وَهُوَ مِنْ وَلَدِ الْمُهَلَّبِ بْنِ أَبِي صُفْرَةَ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the notables who died in this year 2342 - Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad b. ʿArafah b. Sulaymān b. al-Mughīrah b. Ḥabīb b. al-Muhallab b. Abī Ṣufrah al-Azdī al-ʿAtakī [Abū ʿAbd Allāh], known as Nifṭawayh: He related from a great many people. Ibn Ḥayyuwayh, al-Marzubānī, al-Muʿāfā, and others narrated from him. He was truthful and had authored works. Manṣūr b. Mulāʿib al-Ṣayrafī said: Ibrāhīm b. ʿArafah recited to us his own composition: I seek forgiveness from God for what God knows; indeed the wretched is he whom God does not show mercy. Grant that He overlooks for me every wrong, and alas for my shame on the day I meet Him. Ibn Rizqawayh said: Aḥmad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān recited to me, saying: Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad b. ʿArafah recited to me his own composition: I love from among brothers every one who is agreeable, and every one who lowers his gaze at my slips, who complies with me in every matter I desire, and preserves me in life and after my death. Who can secure him for me? Would that I had found him, to share with him my wealth and my good deeds. ʿUbayd Allāh b. Aḥmad b. ʿUthmān al-Ṣayrafī said: Abū Bakr b. Shādhān said to us: Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad b. ʿArafah Nifṭawayh went early one day to Darb al-Raʾʾāsīn, but he did not know the place. He approached a man selling vegetables and said to him: "O shaykh, how is the way to Darb al-Raʾʾāsīn?" He said: The vegetable seller turned to a neighbor of his and said: "O so-and-so, do you not see this boy? May God do to him and deal with him, for he has detained me." He said: "And what do you want from him?" He said: "If he had only hurried to bring me the chard, with what should I slap this sucker of his mother's clitoris? He cannot bear a kunyah." He said: Ibn ʿArafah left him and departed without answering him with anything. From Aḥmad b. Kāmil al-Qāḍī, who said: [Ibrāhīm] b. ʿArafah died [on Wednesday] six days having passed of Ṣafar, year 323, and was buried on Thursday in the cemeteries of Bāb al-Kūfah. Al-Barbahārī, chief of the Ḥanbalīs, prayed over him. He was of fine versatility in the sciences. He mentioned that his birth was in the year 240, and he used to dye with woad. 2343 - Ibrāhīm b. Ḥammād b. Isḥāq b. Ismāʿīl b. Ḥammād b. Zayd, Abū Isḥāq al-Azdī: He was born in Rajab of the year 240, and heard from a great many people, among them al-Ḥasan b. ʿArafah. He was trustworthy, virtuous, and devout. Al-Qāḍī Abū al-Ḥusayn al-Jarrāḥī said: I never came to Ibrāhīm b. Ḥammād except that I found him standing in prayer or sitting reading. Al-Khallāl said: Abū Bakr al-Naysābūrī said: I have never seen anyone more devout than him. He died in Ṣafar of this year. 2344 - Ismāʿīl b. al-ʿAbbās b. ʿUmar b. Mahrān b. Fayrūz, Abū ʿAlī al-Warrāq: He was born in the year 240, and heard from al-Zubayr b. Bakkār, al-Ḥasan b. ʿArafah, ʿAlī b. Ḥarb, and others. Al-Dāraquṭnī narrated from him and declared him trustworthy. He had performed the pilgrimage in the year 322, then returned and died on the road. He was carried to Baghdad and buried there. 2345 - Usāmah b. ʿAlī b. Saʿīd b. Bashīr, Abū Rāfiʿ al-Rāzī. He was born in the year 250. He heard much ḥadīth and was reliable [trustworthy]. He died in Egypt in Dhū al-Ḥijjah of this year. 2346 - Bundār b. Ibrāhīm b. ʿĪsā, Abū Muḥammad al-Qāḍī: He was over the judiciary of Astarābādh, and he was of praiseworthy record, sound in religion, virtuous, trustworthy, and honest. He narrated from al-Ḥārith b. Abī Usāmah, Muʿādh b. al-Muthannā, Bishr b. Mūsā, and others. He died in this year. 2347 - Sulaymān b. al-Ḥasan b. ʿAlī b. al-Jaʿd b. ʿUbayd al-Jawharī, whose kunyah is Abū al-Ṭayyib: Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him sound ḥadīths. He died in this year. 2348 - ʿAbd Allāh b. Muḥammad b. Saʿīd b. Ziyād, Abū Muḥammad al-Muqriʾ, known as Ibn al-Jammāl: He heard Yaʿqūb al-Dawraqī and ʿUmar b. Shabbah. Al-Dāraquṭnī and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him, and he was among the trustworthy. He died in Ramaḍān of this year. 2349 - ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Muḥammad b. ʿĪsā, Abū Muḥammad al-Sukkarī: He heard Zakariyyā b. Yaḥyā al-Munqirī, the companion of al-Aṣmaʿī, and Ibn Qutaybah. Ibn Ḥayyuwayh, al-Dāraquṭnī, and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him. He was trustworthy and noble. He died in this year. 2350 - ʿUbayd Allāh b. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad b. al-Muhtadī bi-Allāh, Abū ʿUbayd Allāh al-Hāshimī. He related from Sayyār b. Naṣr al-Ḥalabī and others. Al-Dāraquṭnī and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him. He was trustworthy and studied jurisprudence according to the school of al-Shāfiʿī. He died in Ramaḍān of this year. 2351 - ʿAbd al-Malik b. Muḥammad b. ʿAdī, Abū Nuʿaym al-Astarābādhī: He was foremost in ḥadīth and jurisprudence. He died in this year, at the age of eighty-three. 2352 - ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. Sulaymān, Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Warrāq al-Wāsiṭī: He settled in Baghdad and related there. Al-Dāraquṭnī and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him. He was trustworthy and understood ḥadīth. He died in Shawwāl of this year. 2353 - ʿUthmān b. Ismāʿīl b. Bakr, Abū al-Qāsim al-Sukkarī: He heard Aḥmad b. Manṣūr al-Ramādī. Al-Dāraquṭnī narrated from him and said: He was among the trustworthy. He died in this year. 2354 - ʿAlī b. al-Faḍl b. Ṭāhir b. Naṣr b. Muḥammad, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Balkhī: He was among the wanderers in pursuit of knowledge. He heard Muḥammad b. al-Faḍl al-Balkhī and Abū Ḥātim al-Rāzī, and he was trustworthy and a ḥāfiẓ. Al-Dāraquṭnī and Ibn Shāhīn narrated from him. He died in this year. 2355 - Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Asad, Abū Bakr al-Ḥāfiẓ, known as Ibn al-Bustunbān: Of Herat origin. He was born in the year 241. He heard from al-Zubayr b. Bakkār and others. Al-Dāraquṭnī [and others] narrated from him. He was a righteous and trustworthy man. He died in Rajab of this year. 2356 - Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ziyād b. Yazīd b. Hārūn, Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Zaʿfarānī, known as Ibn Bulbul: Al-Dāraquṭnī narrated from him, and he was a righteous and trustworthy man. Ṣāliḥ b. Aḥmad b. Muḥammad al-Ḥāfiẓ said: I heard Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Zaʿfarānī say: I saw the Prophet ﷺ in a dream in the year two hundred and ninety-something, and on his head and beard there was much white. I said: "O Messenger of God, it has reached us that there were only a few white hairs on your head and beard." He said: "That is because of the entry of the year three hundred." Ṣāliḥ said: He died in the year 323. In it also died Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm b. ʿAbdaWayh b. Sadūs al-Hudhalī, from the descendants of ʿUtbah b. Masʿūd, in Kufa, though he was from Naysābūr. And Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad b. ʿArafah, known as Nifṭawayh the grammarian, who had authored works, and he was from the descendants of al-Muhallab b. Abī Ṣufrah.
