Translation
✧ Mention of the Qarāmiṭa In this year the people set out for the pilgrimage. When they reached al-Qādisiyya, Abū Ṭāhir al-Qurmuṭī intercepted them on the twelfth of Dhū al-Qaʿda. They did not recognize him, so the caliph's companions fought him, and the pilgrims assisted them. Then they took refuge in al-Qādisiyya. A group of the ʿAlawīs came out in al-Kūfa to Abū Ṭāhir and asked him to refrain from attacking the pilgrims, so he refrained from them, on condition that they return to Baghdādh. So they returned, and no one from Iraq performed the pilgrimage in this year. Abū Ṭāhir marched to al-Kūfa, stayed there several days, and then departed from it. It is also said: The pilgrims set out under the protection of the amīr Luʾluʾ. Abū Ṭāhir Sulaymān b. Abī Saʿīd al-Jannābī—may God curse him—intercepted them, killed most of them, and those of them who were routed returned to Baghdad, and the pilgrimage was suspended in this year on the Iraqi route. His killing of them took place on Wednesday night, the twelfth of Dhū al-Qaʿda.
