Translation
✧ An account of Wushmagir's situation after the killing of his brother As for Wushmagir, when his brother was killed, the armies that had belonged to his brother sought him out and obeyed him, and he stationed himself in al-Rayy. The amir Naṣr b. Aḥmad al-Sāmānī wrote to the commander of his army in Khurasan, Muḥammad b. al-Muẓaffar b. Muḥtāj, ordering him to march to Qūmis, and he wrote to Mākān b. Kālī, who was in Kirmān, ordering him to leave it and join Muḥammad b. al-Muẓaffar, so that they might aim for Jurjān and al-Rayy. Mākān traveled to al-Dāmaghān across the desert. Bānjīn al-Daylamī, one of Wushmagir's companions, advanced against him with a dense army. Mākān sought reinforcements from Muḥammad b. al-Muẓaffar, who was in Bisṭām, and he sent him a large contingent, ordering them to refrain from fighting until he reached them. But they disobeyed him and fought Bānjīn, and they failed to support one another and showed cowardice, so Bānjīn routed them. They returned to Muḥammad b. al-Muẓaffar and set out for Jurjān. Bānjīn marched against them to turn them away from it, so they withdrew to Naysābūr and stayed there. Its governorship was assigned to Mākān b. Kālī, and he resided there. That was at the end of the year 323 and the beginning of the year 324. When Mākān left Kirmān, Abū ʿAlī Muḥammad b. Ilyās returned to it and took possession of it, and it became his after wars he fought with Naṣr's troops in Kirmān, with victory finally going to him. We shall mention the rest of their news in the year 324.
