Tarikh (al-Tabari) 3827

Then the Year 321 AH Began

Translation

✧ In this year, ʿAlī b. Bulayq—before his arrest—and al-Ḥasan b. Hārūn corresponded with him, ordering the cursing of Muʿāwiyah b. Abī Sufyān and his son Yazīd from the pulpits in Baghdad. The common people became agitated, so ʿAlī b. Bulayq wanted to arrest al-Barbahārī, the head of the Ḥanbalīs, who, along with his companions, used to stir up discord. Al-Barbahārī learned of this and fled. A group of his leading companions were seized, imprisoned, placed in a boat, and sent down to ʿUmān.
