Then the Year 319 AH Began
مُلْكِ مَرْدَاوِيجَ أَصْبَهَانَ ثُمَّ أَنْفَذَ مَرْدَاوِيجُ طَائِفَةً أُخْرَى إِلَى أَصْبَهَانَ، مَلَكُوهَا وَاسْتَوْلَوْا عَلَيْهَا، وَبَنَوْا لَهُ فِيهَا مَسَاكِنَ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي دُلَفَ الْعِجْلِيِّ، وَالْبَسَاتِينَ، فَسَارَ مَرْدَاوِيجُ إِلَيْهَا فَنَزَلَهَا وَهُوَ فِي أَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفًا، وَقِيلَ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفًا، وَأَرْسَلَ جَمْعًا آخَرَ إِلَى الْأَهْوَازِ، فَاسْتَوْلَوْا عَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى خُوزِسْتَانَ، وَجَبَوْا أَمْوَالَ هَذِهِ الْبِلَادِ وَالنَّوَاحِي، وَقَسَمَهَا فِي أَصْحَابِهِ، وَجَمَعَ مِنْهَا الْكَثِيرَ فَاذَّخَرَهُ. ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ أَرْسَلَ إِلَى الْمُقْتَدِرِ رَسُولًا يُقَرِّرُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ مَالًا عَلَى هَذِهِ الْبِلَادِ كُلِّهَا، وَنَزَلَ لِلْمُقْتَدِرِ عَنْ هَمَذَانَ وَمَاهِ الْكُوفَةِ، فَأَجَابَهُ الْمُقْتَدِرُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ، وَقُوطِعَ عَلَى مِائَتَيْ أَلْفِ دِينَارٍ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ.
Translation
✧ Mardāwīj's possession of Isfahan Then Mardāwīj sent another party to Isfahan, and they took possession of it and seized it, and they built for him there the dwellings of Aḥmad b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Abī Dulaf al-ʿIjlī, and the orchards. So Mardāwīj traveled to it and encamped there, and he was among forty thousand, and it is said fifty thousand. And he sent another group to al-Ahwāz, and they took possession of it and of Khūzistān, and they collected the wealth of these lands and districts, and he divided it among his companions, and he amassed much of it and stored it. Then he sent to al-Muqtadir a messenger, fixing upon himself a sum of money for all these lands, and he ceded to al-Muqtadir Hamadhān and Māh al-Kūfah. Al-Muqtadir answered him to that, and he was contracted for two hundred thousand dinars each year.
