Creation of the jinn and the story of Satan

Translation

✧ The people differed over whether the Muslims among the jinn will enter Paradise. Al-Ḍaḥḥāk said: They will enter Paradise and eat and drink. Mujāhid said: They will enter it, but they will not eat or drink therein. They will be inspired with glorification and sanctification such that they find what the people of Paradise find in the delight of food and drink. Layth b. Abī Sulaym said: Their reward is that they are delivered from the Fire, and it is said to them: Be dust. Ibn Kathīr, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said: The scholars differed over whether the believing jinn will enter Paradise or whether the reward of their obedient ones is only that they are not punished in the Fire, on two views. The correct one is that they will enter Paradise, due to the generality of the Qurʾān and due to the generality of His saying, exalted is He: 'And for him who fears the standing before his Lord are two gardens. So which of the favors of your Lord will you two deny?' [Al-Raḥmān: 46–47]. Thus He, exalted is He, bestowed favor upon them with that. Had they not attained it, He would not have mentioned it and counted it as a blessing upon them. This alone is an independent and sufficient proof in the matter, and God knows best. Al-Bukhārī said with his chain from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿa, from his father, that Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī said to him: I see that you love sheep and the desert. So when you are among your sheep and in your desert, and you call to prayer, raise your voice with the call, for no jinn or human or anything else hears the reach of the muezzin's voice except that it will testify for him on the Day of Resurrection. Abū Saʿīd said: I heard it from the Messenger of God ﷺ.
