الْحَرْبِ بَيْنَ عَسْكَرِ الْخَلِيفَةِ، وَعَمْرٍو الصَّفَّارِ فِي سنة إحدى وسبعين ومائتين عَاشِرَ رَبِيعٍ الْأَوَّلِ كَانَتْ وَقْعَةٌ بَيْنَ عَسَاكِرِ الْخَلِيفَةِ وَفِيهَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي دُلَفَ، وَبَيْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ اللَّيْثِ الصَّفَّارِ، وَدَامَتِ الْحَرْبُ مِنْ أَوَّلِ النَّهَارِ إِلَى الظُّهْرِ، فَانْهَزَمَ عَمْرٌو وَعَسَاكِرُهُ، وَكَانُوا خَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ أَلْفًا بَيْنَ فَارِسٍ وَرَاجِلٍ، وَجُرِحَ الدِّرْهَمِيُّ مُقَدَّمُ جَيْشِ عَمْرِو بْنِ اللَّيْثِ، وَقُتِلَ مِائَةُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ حُمَاتِهِمْ، وَأُسِرَ ثَلَاثَةُ آلَافِ أَسِيرٍ، اسْتَأْمَنَ مِنْهُمْ أَلْفُ رَجُلٍ، وَغَنِمُوا مِنْ مُعَسْكَرِ عَمْرٍو مِنَ الدَّوَابِّ وَالْبَقَرِ وَالْحَمِيرِ ثَلَاثِينَ أَلْفَ رَأْسٍ، وَمَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ فَخَارِجٌ عَنِ الْحَدِّ.
Translation
✧ The war between the caliph's army and ʿAmr al-Ṣaffār In the year two hundred and seventy-one, on the tenth of Rabīʿ al-Awwal, there was a battle between the armies of the caliph, among whom was Aḥmad b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Abī Dulaf, and ʿAmr b. al-Layth al-Ṣaffār. The fighting lasted from the beginning of the day until noon. ʿAmr and his armies were defeated. They were fifteen thousand, between cavalry and infantry. Al-Dirhamī, the commander of ʿAmr b. al-Layth's army, was wounded. One hundred men of their champions were killed, and three thousand prisoners were taken. Of them, one thousand men sought quarter. They seized as booty from ʿAmr's camp thirty thousand head of beasts, cattle, and donkeys. Anything other than that is beyond reckoning.
