Translation
✧ The dispute of Muḥammad and ʿAlī, the two ʿAlawīs In the year two hundred and seventy-one, Muḥammad and ʿAlī, the two sons of al-Ḥusayn b. Jaʿfar b. Mūsā b. Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib, entered Madinah. They killed a group of its inhabitants and took money from some people. The people of Madinah did not pray in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for four Fridays—neither the Friday prayer nor the congregational prayer. Truly, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. Al-Faḍl b. al-ʿAbbās al-ʿAlawī said about that: The abode of the Hijrah of al-Muṣṭafā, the righteous, was ruined; its ruin made the Muslims weep. O eye, weep for the station of Jibrīl and the grave—so it wept—and for the blessed minbar, and for the mosque whose foundation is piety, which became empty of worshippers, and for Ṭaybah, which Allah blessed through the seal of the messengers.
