He is one of those in whom the Shīʿah believe in the Imāmate. He died in Rabīʿ I of this year and was buried beside his father. Al-Ḥasan al-Fallās al-Ḥasan al-Fallās. One of the devoted worshippers of Baghdād. He was contemporary with Sarī al-Saqaṭī, and al-Sarī used to magnify his affair and say: I admire his way. Ḥasan used to eat nothing but what was thrown away as refuse. On the authority of Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad b. al-ʿAbbās b. al-Faḍl, who said: I heard Wahb b. Nuʿaym b. al-Haytham say: Ḥasan al-Fallās came to Bishr b. al-Ḥārith to visit him once, twice, and three times, going back and forth to him about a question so that the proof might be between him and God Almighty. Bishr left him and got up once, twice, and three times. Then after that, he followed him to the cemeteries. When he reached the cemeteries, Bishr stopped and said to him: O Ḥasan, would these people wish to be returned so that they might repair what they corrupted? Indeed know, O Ḥasan, that he whose heart rejoices in anything of this world, his heart misses wisdom. He who places the desires of this world under his feet, Satan is frightened by his shadow. He who overcomes his passion, he is the patient victor. Indeed know that the entire affliction is in your passion, and the entire cure is in your opposition to it. When you meet it, say: He told me. So Ḥasan returned and made a covenant with God Almighty that he would not eat what is sold, nor what is bought, nor wear what is sold or bought, nor hold in his hand gold or silver, nor laugh ever. He used to take shelter for six months in al-ʿAbbāsiyyah and six months around Dār al-Biṭṭīkh, and he wore what was in the rubbish heaps. A man met him at al-Badhandūn as he was returning in this state and said: O Ḥasan, whoever leaves something for God, God compensates him with what is better than it. So what has He compensated you? Ḥasan said: Contentment with what you see. When he returned from his military expedition, he developed an abscess, and in it was his death. When his condition became severe, he said to a female servant: Do not give me water to drink until I ask you for it. When the matter drew near, he asked her for water and drank, and said: He has given me that over which the ambitious compete. Al-Ḥasan b. Muḥammad b. al-Ṣabbāḥ, Abū ʿAlī al-Zaʿfarānī al-Ḥasan b.
