Translation
✧ Mention of several events in the year two hundred and sixty of the Prophetic emigration In it, a great famine occurred in all the lands of Islam, so much so that most of the people of the lands departed from them, seeking pasture elsewhere. No one remained in Makkah among the mujāwirūn and those like them, until they moved to Madinah and other lands. The deputy of Makkah left it. The kurr of barley in Baghdad reached one hundred and twenty dinars, and this lasted for months. In it, the leader of the Zanj, who had seized control of Basra, killed ʿAlī b. Zayd, the governor of Kufa. In it, the Byzantines took the fortress of Luʾluʾa from the Muslims. In this year, a man from the companions of Musāwir al-Shārī killed Muḥammad b. Hārūn b. al-Muʿammar. He saw him while he was heading to Samarra, and killed him, and carried his head to Musāwir. Rabīʿa sought vengeance for him, so Masrūr al-Balkhī and others were assigned to block the roads against Musāwir. In it, the Bedouins killed Manjūr, the governor of Homs, and Baktumur was appointed over it. In it, al-ʿAlāʾ b. Aḥmad al-Azdī, the governor of Azerbaijan, was killed. The reason for his killing was that he was afflicted with hemiplegia, so the caliph appointed Abū al-Rudaynī ʿUmar b. ʿAlī in his place. When he approached it, al-ʿAlāʾ went out to meet him, and they fought. Al-ʿAlāʾ was killed, and his companions fled. Abū al-Rudaynī took what al-ʿAlāʾ had left behind, which amounted to two million seven hundred thousand dirhams. Ibrāhīm b. Muḥammad b. Ismāʿīl, known as Bariyya, led the people in the pilgrimage, and he was the governor of Makkah. In it, Mufliḥ al-Turkī ordered that the house called Dār al-Qaṭṭān be added to the Mosque of al-Manṣūr. It had formerly been a dīwān for al-Manṣūr. Mufliḥ instructed its owner al-Qaṭṭān to build it and make it part of the mosque so that he could pray in it, and it was attributed to al-Qiṭṭān.
