✧ The war between Muḥammad b. Wāṣil and Ibn Mufliḥ In the year 261 AH, Ibn Wāṣil and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mufliḥ and Ṭāshtimur fought each other. The reason for that was that Wāṣil had killed al-Ḥārith b. Sīmā, and gained control over Fārs. So al-Muʿtamid added Fārs to Mūsā b. Bughā, along with al-Ahwāz, al-Baṣrah, al-Baḥrayn, and al-Yamāmah, in addition to what he already had. Mūsā sent ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mufliḥ, who was a young man of twenty-one years, to al-Ahwāz, and appointed him over it along with Fārs, and attached Ṭāshtimur to him. When Ibn Wāṣil learned of that, and that Ibn Mufliḥ had marched toward him from al-Ahwāz, he advanced against him from Fārs, and they met at Rāmahurmuz. Abū Dāwūd al-Ṣuʿlūk joined Ibn Wāṣil, and they fought. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān was defeated and taken prisoner, Ṭāshtimur was killed, their army was destroyed, and what was in it of wealth, equipment, and other things was seized as booty. The caliph sent to Ibn Wāṣil concerning the release of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, but he did not do so, and killed him while claiming that he had died. Ibn Wāṣil marched from Rāmahurmuz after this event, declaring that he wanted Wāsiṭ to fight Mūsā b. Bughā, and reached al-Ahwāz where Ibrāhīm b. Sīmā was with a large force. When Mūsā saw the severity of the situation in this region, and the multitude of those dominating it, and that he was incapable of dealing with them, he asked to be relieved, and his request was granted.
