The Year 260 AH from the Prophetic Emigration
الْحَرْبِ بَيْنَ أَهْلِ طُلَيْطُلَةَ وَهَوَّارَةَ وَفِي سنة ستين ومائتين ظَهَرَ مُوسَى بْنُ ذِي النُّونِ الْهَوَّارِيُّ بِشَنْتِ بَرِيَّةَ، وَأَغَارَ عَلَى أَهْلِ طُلَيْطُلَةَ، وَدَخَلَ حِصْنَ وَلِيدٍ مِنْ شَنْتَ بَرِيَّةَ، فَخَرَجَ أَهْلُ طُلَيْطُلَةَ إِلَيْهِ فِي نَحْوِ عِشْرِينَ أَلْفًا، فَلَمَّا الْتَقَوْا بِمُوسَى وَاقْتَتَلُوا انْهَزَمَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طُرَيْشَةَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ، وَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ طُلَيْطُلَةَ، فَتَبِعَهُ أَهْلُ طُلَيْطُلَةَ فِي الْهَزِيمَةِ، وَانْهَزَمَ مَعَهُمْ مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَعَمِلَ ذَلِكَ مُحَمَّدٌ مُكَافَأَةً لِمُطَرِّفٍ حِينَ انْهَزَمَ بِالنَّاسِ فِي الْعَامِ الْمَاضِي، فَقُتِلَ مِنْ أَهْلِ طُلَيْطُلَةَ خَلْقٌ كَثِيرٌ، وَقَوِيَ مُوسَى بْنُ ذِي النُّونِ، وَهَابَهُ مَنْ حَاذَرَهُ.
Translation
✧ The war between the people of Toledo and Hawwāra In the year two hundred and sixty, Mūsā b. Dhī al-Nūn al-Hawwārī appeared in Santaver, and raided the people of Toledo. He entered the fortress of Walīd in Santaver. The people of Toledo marched out against him in about twenty thousand. When they met Mūsā and fought, Muḥammad b. Ṭuraysha fled with his companions, he being of the people of Toledo. The people of Toledo followed him in flight, and Muṭarrif b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān fled with them. Muḥammad did that as a reprisal against Muṭarrif, when he had fled with the people the previous year. Many of the people of Toledo were killed, and Mūsā b. Dhī al-Nūn grew strong, and those who were wary of him feared him.
