Translation
✧ The dismissal of ʿĪsā b. al-Shaykh from al-Shām and his appointment over Armenia When Ibn al-Shaykh took control of Damascus, and cut off the transport of revenue to Baghdādh, it happened that Ibn al-Mudabbir carried money from Egypt to Baghdādh, in the amount of seven hundred thousand dinars, and ʿĪsā b. al-Shaykh seized it. Then Ḥusayn al-Khādim was sent from Baghdādh to him to demand the money from him, and he mentioned that he had distributed it among the troops. So Ḥusayn gave him his covenant over Armenia so that he would proclaim the call for al-Muʿtamid, (and he had previously refused that; so he accepted the covenant, and proclaimed the call for al-Muʿtamid), and he wore the black, thinking that al-Shām would remain in his hand. So al-Muʿtamid dispatched Amājūr, and entrusted him with Damascus and its districts. He marched to it with a thousand men. When he drew near, ʿĪsā sent against him his son Manṣūr with twenty thousand fighting men. When they met, Manṣūr's army was defeated and Manṣūr was killed. So ʿĪsā was weakened, and he marched to Armenia along the coastal road, and Amājūr took charge of Damascus.
