مَنْ تُوُفِّيَ فِي سنة اثنتين وخمسين ومائتين مِنَ الْأَكَابِرِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الْبُهْلُولِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ، أَبُو يَعْقُوبَ التَّنُوخِيُّ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الْبُهْلُولِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ، أَبُو يَعْقُوبَ التَّنُوخِيُّ. مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَنْبَارِ، وُلِدَ بِهَا سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَسِتِّينَ وَمِائَةٍ، وَسَمِعَ مِنْ وَكِيعٍ وَأَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ، وَيَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، وَابْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ، وَغَيْرِهِمْ. وَصَنَّفَ "الْمُسْنَدَ" وَكَانَ ثِقَةً. حَدَّثَ عَنْهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْحَرْبِيُّ، وَابْنُ أَبِي الدُّنْيَا، وَالزَّنَاتِيُّ، وَابْنُ صَاعِدٍ، وَغَيْرُهُمْ، وَرَحَلَ إِلَى الْبِلَادِ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ، ثُمَّ أَقَامَ بِالْأَنْبَارِ. وعن إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي الْبُهْلُولُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: اسْتَدْعَى الْمُتَوَكِّلُ أَبِي إِلَى سُرَّ مَنْ رَأَى حَتَّى حَدَّثَهُ، وَسَمِعَ مِنْهُ، وَقَرَأَ عَلَيْهِ حَدِيثًا كَثِيرًا، ثُمَّ أَمَرَ فَنُصِبَ لَهُ مِنْبَرٌ، وَكَانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَلَيْهِ، وَحَدَّثَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْجَامِعِ بِسَامُرَّاءَ، وَفِي رَحْبَةِ زَيْرَكَ، وَأَقْطَعَهُ أَقْطَاعًا فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ مَبْلَغُهُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَلْفًا، وَرَسَمَ لَهُ صِلَةً خَمْسَةَ آلَافِ دِرْهَمٍ فِي السَّنَةِ، فَكَانَ يَأْخُذُهَا، وَأَقَامَ إِلَى أَنْ قَدِمَ الْمُسْتَعِينُ بَغْدَادَ، فَخَافَ أَبِي أَنْ تَكْبِسَ الْأَتْرَاكُ الْأَنْبَارَ، فَانْحَدَرَ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ عَجِلًا وَلَمْ يَحْمِلْ مَعَهُ شَيْئًا مِنْ كُتُبِهِ، وَطَالَبَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ طَاهِرٍ أَنْ يُحَدِّثَ فَحَدَّثَ بِبَغْدَادَ مِنْ حِفْظِهِ بِخَمْسِينَ أَلْفِ حَدِيثٍ لَمْ يُخْطِئْ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْهَا، وَخَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ أَصْحَابُ الْحَدِيثِ يَوْمًا وَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ: قَدْ حَدَّثَ بِالْحَدِيثِ الْفُلَانِيِّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ فَأَخْطَأَ فِيهِ، فَبَلَغَهُ، فَقَالَ: رُدُّوهُمْ. فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوا قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ كَمَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِهِ، وَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى بِكَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ، فَذَكَرَ الْوَجْهَ الَّذِي ذَكَرُوهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: وَأَنَا بِمَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِهِ أَثْبَتُ مِنْ يَدِي عَلَى زَنْدِي. تُوُفِّيَ فِي ذِي الْحِجَّةِ [مِنْ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ بِالْأَنْبَارِ]. الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي شُعَيْبٍ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي شُعَيْبٍ. وَاسْمُ أَبِي شُعَيْبٍ: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ، مَوْلَى [عُمَرَ] بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَيُكَنَّى الْحَسَنُ: أَبَا مُسْلِمٍ، وَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ حَرَّانَ، سَكَنَ بَغْدَادَ، وَحَدَّثَ بِهَا، فَرَوَى عَنْهُ ابْنُ أَبِي الدُّنْيَا، وَابْنُ أَبِي دَاوُدَ، وَابْنُ صَاعِدٍ، وَالْمَحَامِلِيُّ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً مَأْمُونًا. وَتُوُفِّيَ بِسَامُرَّاءَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، أَبُو هَاشِمٍ زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، أَبُو هَاشِمٍ. طُوسِيُّ الْأَصْلِ، يُعْرَفُ بِدَلَّوَيْهِ، وُلِدَ سَنَةَ سَبْعٍ وَسِتِّينَ وَمِائَةٍ، سَمِعَ هُشَيْمًا، وَأَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَيَّاشٍ، وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنَ عُلَيَّةَ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً، رَوَى عَنْهُ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، وَقَالَ: اكْتُبُوا عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ شُعْبَةُ الصَّغِيرُ. وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي رَبِيعٍ الْأَوَّلِ مِنْ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْقُرَشِيُّ اللَّبَقِيُّ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْقُرَشِيُّ اللَّبَقِيُّ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ. سَمِعَ حَفْصَ بْنَ غِيَاثٍ، وَمُحَمَّدَ بْنَ فُضَيْلٍ، وَوَكِيعَ [بْنَ] الْجَرَّاحِ، وَابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ، وَغَيْرَهُمْ، وَرَوَى عَنْهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ، وَمُسْلِمٌ. وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي جُمَادَى الْأُولَى مِنْ هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. وعن عَلِيَّ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ اللَّبَقِيَّ قال: رَأَيْتُ فِيمَا يَرَى النَّائِمُ كَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَدْ أَقْبَلَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ مُوسَى بْنُ عِمْرَانَ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، مَا تَقُولُ فِي الْقُرْآنِ؟ فَقَالَ: "أَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ الْقُرْآنَ كَلَامُ اللَّهِ غَيْرُ مَخْلُوقٍ، وَمُوسَى بْنُ عِمْرَانَ يَشْهَدُ، وَهَذَا أَخِي عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ يَشْهَدُ أَنَّ الْقُرْآنَ كَلَامُ اللَّهِ غَيْرُ مَخْلُوقٍ" وَهَذَا فِي أَيَّامِ الْمِحْنَةِ، قَالَ اللَّبَقِيُّ: وَسَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّنَادِيقِيَّ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ: بَرِئَ اللَّهُ مِمَّنْ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ [ ؓ ]. مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ. يُعْرَفُ بِبُنْدَارٍ، وُلِدَ سَنَةَ سَبْعٍ وَسِتِّينَ وَمِائَةٍ سَمِعَ غُنْدَرًا، وَمُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، وَوَكِيعَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ، وَابْنَ مَهْدِيٍّ، وَيَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانَ، وَرَوْحَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ، وَغَيْرَهُمْ. رَوَى عَنْهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْحَرْبِيُّ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي الدُّنْيَا، وَالْبَغَوِيُّ، وَغَيْرُهُمْ. قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ: قَدْ كَتَبَ عَنِّي خَمْسَةُ قُرُونٍ وَسَأَلُونِي الْحَدِيثَ وَأَنَا ابْنُ ثَمَانِيَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً، فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ أَنْ أُحَدِّثَهُمْ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ، فَأَخْرَجْتُهُمْ إِلَى الْبُسْتَانِ وَأَطْعَمْتُهُمُ الرُّطَبَ وَحَدَّثْتُهُمْ. قَالَ الْمُصَنِّفُ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ: وَبُنْدَارٌ ثِقَةٌ، قَدْ أُخْرِجَ عَنْهُ فِي الصَّحِيحَيْنِ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَتْ تَغْلُبُ عَلَيْهِ الْعُجْمَةُ وَسَلَامَةُ [الصَّدْرِ]. وعن إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقَزَّازُ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ بُنْدَارٍ فَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: قَالَتْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ يَسْخَرُ مِنْهُ: أُعِيذُكَ بِاللَّهِ، مَا أَفْصَحَكَ! قَالَ: كُنَّا إِذَا خَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِ رَوْحٍ نَرُوحُ إِلَى أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ. فَقَالَ: قَدْ بَانَ ذَاكَ عَلَيْكَ. تُوُفِّيَ بُنْدَارٌ فِي رَجَبٍ هَذِهِ السَّنَةَ. مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَحْرِ بْنِ مَطَرٍ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْبَزَّارُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَحْرِ بْنِ مَطَرٍ، أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْبَزَّارُ: سَمِعَ يَزِيدَ بْنَ هَارُونَ، وَشُجَاعَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ، وَأَبَا النَّضْرِ، وَغَيْرَهُمْ. رَوَى [عَنْهُ] أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الطَّحَاوِيُّ [وَغَيْرُهُ]. مُفَضَّلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ بْنِ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَبَّانِيُّ مُفَضَّلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ بْنِ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَبَّانِيُّ. رَوَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ. تُوُفِّيَ فِي رَجَبٍ هَذِهِ السُّنَّةَ. يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ بْنِ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ أَبُو يُوسُفَ الْعَبْدِيُّ، الْمَعْرُوفُ بِالدَّوْرَقِيِّ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ بْنِ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ أَبُو يُوسُفَ الْعَبْدِيُّ، الْمَعْرُوفُ بِالدَّوْرَقِيِّ. وَهُوَ أَخُو أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ -كَانَ الْأَكْبَرَ- رَأَى اللَّيْثَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ، وَسَمِعَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ الزُّهْرِيَّ، وَالدَّرَاوَرْدِيَّ، وَسُفْيَانَ بْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ، وَغَيْرَهَمْ. رَوَى عَنْهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ، وَمُسْلِمٌ، وَأَبُو زُرْعَةُ، وَأَبُو حَاتِمٍ، وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ، وَالنَّسَائِيُّ، وَآخِرُ مَنْ حَدَّثَ عَنْهُ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، وَكَانَ حَافِظًا مُتْقِنًا ثِقَةً، صَنَّفَ "الْمُسْنَدَ". وَتُوُفِّيَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ. وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ مَاتَ : إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْعَلَوِيُّ الَّذِي فَعَلَ بِمَكَّةَ مَا فَعَلَ، وَأَلْحَدَ فِي الْحَرَمِ مَا أَلْحَدَ - كَمَا تَقَدَّمَ - فَأَهْلَكَهُ اللَّهُ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ عَاجِلًا وَلَمْ يُنْظِرْهُ. وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى الزَّمِنُ.

✧ Those of the notables who died in the year two hundred fifty-two AH Isḥāq b. al-Buhlūl b. Ḥassān b. Sinān, Abū Yaʿqūb al-Tanūkhī Isḥāq b. al-Buhlūl b. Ḥassān b. Sinān, Abū Yaʿqūb al-Tanūkhī. Of the people of al-Anbār, born there in the year one hundred sixty-four. He heard from Wakīʿ, Abū Muʿāwiyah, Ibn ʿUlayyah, Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd, Ibn Mahdī, and others. He compiled the Musnad and was trustworthy (thiqah). Ibrāhīm al-Ḥarbī, Ibn Abī al-Dunyā, al-Zanātī, Ibn Ṣāʿid, and others narrated from him. He traveled to various lands in pursuit of knowledge, then resided in al-Anbār. Ismāʿīl b. Yaʿqūb said: My uncle al-Buhlūl b. Isḥāq narrated to me saying: Al-Mutawakkil summoned my father to Sāmarrāʾ until he narrated to him, and he heard from him, and he read to him many ḥadīths. Then he ordered that a pulpit be set up for him, and he used to narrate on it. He narrated in the congregational mosque in Sāmarrāʾ and in the courtyard of Zayrak. He granted him fiefs every year amounting to twelve thousand, and assigned him a gift of five thousand dirhams per year, which he used to take. He stayed until al-Mustaʿīn came to Baghdad. My father feared that the Turks would raid al-Anbār, so he hurried down to Baghdad without carrying any of his books with him. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ṭāhir asked him to narrate, and he narrated in Baghdad from memory fifty thousand ḥadīths without erring in any of them. One day the ḥadīth scholars came out from his presence saying: He narrated the such-and-such ḥadīth from Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah and erred in it. This reached him, and he said: Bring them back. When they returned, he said: Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah narrated this ḥadīth to me as I narrated it to you, and he narrated it to me another time in such-and-such a way, and he mentioned the version they had mentioned. Then he said: I am more certain of what I narrated to you than of my hand on my forearm. He died in Dhū al-Ḥijjah [of this year in al-Anbār]. Al-Ḥasan b. Aḥmad b. Abī Shuʿayb al-Ḥasan b. Aḥmad b. Abī Shuʿayb. Abū Shuʿayb's name is ʿAbd Allāh b. Muslim al-Umawī, a client (mawlā) of [ʿUmar] b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz. Al-Ḥasan's kunyah is Abū Muslim. He was from the people of Ḥarrān and resided in Baghdad, where he narrated. Ibn Abī al-Dunyā, Ibn Abī Dāwūd, Ibn Ṣāʿid, and al-Maḥāmilī narrated from him. He was trustworthy and reliable (thiqah maʾmūn). He died in Sāmarrāʾ in this year. Ziyād b. Ayyūb b. Ziyād, Abū Hāshim Ziyād b. Ayyūb b. Ziyād, Abū Hāshim. Of Ṭūsī origin, known as Dallawayh. Born in the year one hundred sixty-seven. He heard Hushaym, Abū Bakr b. ʿAyyāsh, and Ismāʿīl b. ʿUlayyah. He was trustworthy. Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal narrated from him and said: Write from him, for he is the little Shuʿbah. He died in Rabīʿ al-Awwal of this year. ʿAlī b. Salamah b. ʿUqbah, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Qurashī al-Labaqī al-Naysābūrī ʿAlī b. Salamah b. ʿUqbah, Abū al-Ḥasan al-Qurashī al-Labaqī al-Naysābūrī. He heard Ḥafṣ b. Ghiyāth, Muḥammad b. Fuḍayl, Wakīʿ b. al-Jarrāḥ, Ibn ʿUlayyah, and others. Al-Bukhārī and Muslim narrated from him. He died in Jumādā al-Ūlā of this year. ʿAlī b. Salamah al-Labaqī said: I saw in a dream as if the Prophet ﷺ had come forward, with Mūsā b. ʿImrān on his right and ʿĪsā ibn Maryam on his left. I said: O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about the Qurʾān? He said: "I bear witness that the Qurʾān is the speech of Allah, uncreated, and Mūsā b. ʿImrān bears witness, and this brother of mine ʿĪsā ibn Maryam bears witness that the Qurʾān is the speech of Allah, uncreated." This was during the days of the miḥnah (inquisition). Al-Labaqī said: I heard Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad al-Ṣanādīqī say: I heard my father say: Allah is innocent of whoever disavows Abū Bakr and ʿUmar ؓ. Muḥammad b. Bashshār b. ʿUthmān b. Kaysān, Abū Bakr al-Baṣrī Muḥammad b. Bashshār b. ʿUthmān b. Kaysān, Abū Bakr al-Baṣrī. Known as Bundār. Born in the year one hundred sixty-seven. He heard Ghundar, Muḥammad b. Abī ʿAdī, Wakīʿ b. al-Jarrāḥ, Ibn Mahdī, Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān, Rawḥ b. ʿUbādah, and others. Ibrāhīm al-Ḥarbī, Abū Bakr b. Abī al-Dunyā, al-Baghawī, and others narrated from him. Muḥammad b. Bashshār said: Five generations have written from me, and they asked me for ḥadīth when I was eighteen years old. I was too shy to narrate to them in the city, so I took them out to the orchard, fed them fresh dates, and narrated to them. The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Bundār is trustworthy; his ḥadīths are included in the two Ṣaḥīḥs, except that he was overcome by non-Arabic accent and simplicity of heart. Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm al-Qazzāz said: We were with Bundār, and he said in a ḥadīth from ʿĀʾishah that she said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. A man said to him mockingly: I seek refuge for you with Allah—how eloquent you are! He said: When we left Rawḥ, we would go to Abū ʿUbaydah. The man said: That is evident in you. Bundār died in Rajab of this year. Muḥammad b. Baḥr b. Maṭar, Abū Bakr al-Bazzār Muḥammad b. Baḥr b. Maṭar, Abū Bakr al-Bazzār: He heard Yazīd b. Hārūn, Shujāʿ b. al-Walīd, Abū al-Naḍr, and others. Abū Jaʿfar al-Ṭaḥāwī [and others] narrated from him. Mufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah b. al-Mufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah b. ʿUbayd b. Ibrāhīm, Abū Muḥammad al-Qabbānī Mufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah b. al-Mufaḍḍal b. Faḍālah b. ʿUbayd b. Ibrāhīm, Abū Muḥammad al-Qabbānī. He narrated from his father from his grandfather. He died in Rajab of this year. Yaʿqūb b. Ibrāhīm b. Kathīr b. Zayd b. Aflaḥ b. Manṣūr b. Muzāḥim, Abū Yūsuf al-ʿAbdī, known as al-Dawraqī Yaʿqūb b. Ibrāhīm b. Kathīr b. Zayd b. Aflaḥ b. Manṣūr b. Muzāḥim, Abū Yūsuf al-ʿAbdī, known as al-Dawraqī. He was the brother of Aḥmad b. Ibrāhīm—who was the elder. He saw al-Layth b. Saʿd and heard Ibrāhīm b. Saʿd al-Zuhrī, al-Darāwardī, Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah, and others. Al-Bukhārī, Muslim, Abū Zurʿah, Abū Ḥātim, Abū Dāwūd, al-Nasāʾī narrated from him. The last to narrate from him was Muḥammad b. Makhlad. He was a ḥāfiẓ, meticulous, trustworthy, and compiled the Musnad. He died in this year. Also in this year died: Ismāʿīl b. Yūsuf al-ʿAlawī, the one who did what he did in Makkah and committed what he committed in the sanctuary—as previously mentioned—so Allah destroyed him in this year swiftly and did not grant him respite. And Muḥammad b. al-Muthannā al-Zamin.
