Translation

✧ Mention of several events. In the year two hundred and fifty-two, seven nights remaining of al-Muḥarram, Abū al-Sāj Dīwdād b. Dīwdust returned to Baghdād. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh appointed him over the districts watered by the Euphrates in the Sawād, and he dispatched his deputies there to expel the Turks and Maghāribah from it. Then Abū al-Sāj marched to al-Kūfah. In it, al-Ḥusayn b. Abī al-Shawārib was appointed chief judge. A group had been named for the judiciary, and he impugned them, and it was said they were Rāfiḍīs, Qadarīs, Jahmīs from among the companions of Ibn Abī Duʾād. So al-Muʿtazz ordered their expulsion from the camp and their removal to Baghdād. In it, ʿĪsā b. al-Shaykh was given the governorship of al-Ramlah, and he sent his deputy Abū al-Magharra there. This ʿĪsā is a Shaybānī; he is ʿĪsā b. al-Shaykh b. al-Salīl, from the descendants of Jassās b. Murrah b. Dhuhl b. Shaybān. He seized all of Filasṭīn. When the Turks in al-ʿIrāq did what we have mentioned, he overpowered Dimashq and its districts, cut off what used to be carried from al-Shām to the caliph, and seized sole control of the funds. In it, Waṣīf wrote to ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Abī Dulaf al-ʿIjlī appointing him over al-Jabal, and sent him robes of honor, so he took charge of that on his behalf. In it, Muḥammad b. ʿAmr al-Shārī was killed in the abode of Rabīʿah. A deputy of Ayyūb b. Aḥmad killed him in Dhū al-Qaʿdah. In it, Jistān, lord of al-Daylam, along with Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā b. Aḥmad al-ʿAlawī and al-Ḥusayn b. Aḥmad al-Kawkabī, raided al-Rayy. They killed and took captives. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUzayr was there, and he fled from it. The people of al-Rayy made peace with them for two million dirhams, so they departed from it. Ibn ʿUzayr returned and seized Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā and sent him to Naysābūr. In it, Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā b. al-Manṣūr led the people in the pilgrimage. In it, Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, lord of al-Andalus, dispatched an army to the lands of the enemy. They made for Ulbah, al-Qilāʿ, and the city of Māyah, and killed a great number of its people. Then the army returned safely.
