The story of ʿĪsā b. Maryam (peace be upon him)

Translation

✧ His reporting of the one who stole and his blessing in his food and drink It was said: When Maryam was in Egypt, she stopped at a landowner, and his house was a refuge for the poor and the needy. Some money of his was stolen, and he did not suspect the poor. Maryam was grieved. When ʿĪsā saw his mother's grief, he said: Do you want me to show him his money? She said: Yes. He said: The blind man and the crippled man took it; they shared in it. The blind man carried the crippled man and took it. It was said to the blind man to carry the crippled man, but he showed inability. So the Messiah said to him: How were you able to carry him last night when you two took the money? So they confessed and returned it. Guests stopped at the landowner's, and they had no drink. He was concerned about that. When ʿĪsā saw him, he entered a house of the landowner in which there were two rows of jars. ʿĪsā passed his hand over their mouths as he walked, and they filled with drink. His age then was twelve years. In the Qur'anic school, he would tell the boys what their families were doing and what they had been eating. ʿAṭāʾ said: Maryam handed ʿĪsā over to a dyer to learn from him. Clothes had gathered with the dyer, and a need arose for him. He said to the Messiah: These are clothes of different colors, and I have placed in each garment a thread of the color it is to be dyed. Dye them until I return from this need of mine. The Messiah took them and threw them into a single vat. When the dyer returned, he asked him about the clothes. He said: I dyed them. He said: Where are they? He said: In this vat. He said: All of them? He said: Yes. He said: You have ruined them for their owners! And he became angry with him. The Messiah said to him: Do not rush; look at them. He stood and brought them out, each garment of the color its owner wanted. The dyer marveled at him and knew that this was from Allah, exalted is He. One day he attended a meal of one of the kings who had invited the people to it. He sat at a large bowl eating from it, and it did not decrease. The king said: Who are you? He said: I am ʿĪsā son of Maryam. The king descended from his kingship and followed him with a group of his companions, and they were the disciples. It was said: The disciples were the dyer mentioned above and companions of his. It was said: They were fishermen. It was said: They were fullers. It was said: They were sailors. And Allah knows best. Their number was twelve men. When they were hungry or thirsty, they would say: O Spirit of Allah, we have become hungry and thirsty. He would strike his hand to the ground, and there would come out for each one of them two loaves and what they drank. They said: Who is more virtuous than us? When we wish, you feed us and give us drink! He said: More virtuous than you is one who eats from the work of his own hand. So they began washing clothes for wages. Healing the sick Wahb said: Fifty thousand sick people would gather at his door. From Salmān al-Fārisī, he said: There did not remain in their city a chronically ill person, an afflicted one, or a sick person but they gathered to him, and he supplicated for them, and Allah healed them. So they believed in him and followed him.
