Translation

✧ The Turmoil in Tripoli of the West In this year, the disturbances of the people of Tripoli of the West against their governors increased. Ibrāhīm b. al-Aghlab, the amir of Ifrīqiyah, had appointed over them several governors, and they would complain of their governors, so he would dismiss them and appoint others. This year he appointed over them Sufyān b. al-Maḍāʾ, this being his fourth governorship. The people of the city agreed to expel him from among them and send him back to al-Qayrawān. They marched against him, so he took up his weapons and fought them, he and a group of those with him. They expelled him from his house, and he entered the congregational mosque and fought them there. They killed his companions, then granted him safe conduct, and he departed from them in Shaʿbān of this year. His governorship had lasted twenty-seven days. The troops who were in Tripoli appointed over the city and its people Ibrāhīm b. Sufyān al-Tamīmī. Then, among the abnāʾ in Tripoli also, and between a people known as Banū Abī Kinānah and Banū Yūsuf, there occurred many wars and fighting, until Tripoli was ruined. This reached Ibrāhīm b. al-Aghlab, so he sent a group of troops and commanded them to bring the abnāʾ, Banū Abī Kinānah, and Banū Yūsuf. They brought them to him at al-Qayrawān in Dhū al-Ḥijjah. When they came before him, they asked him to pardon them for what they had done, and he pardoned them, and they returned to their city.
